BRUSSELS, BELGIUM — The Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian delegation, which included representatives from Indonesia, participated in the Global Sumud Parliamentary Congress held in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday (April 22, 2026) local time.

The Congress produced the Brussels Declaration, a document emphasizing the importance of opening humanitarian access to Gaza, compliance with, and increased global political pressure to protect civilians.

In addition, this declaration also supports cross-parliamentary and civil society collaboration in the fight for justice. The Indonesian delegation’s participation in this event reaffirms Indonesia’s commitment to contributing to humanitarian diplomacy, expanding international networks, and strengthening the global voice in achieving peace.

The Chair of the Steering Committee of the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI), Maimon Herawati, urged the world to no longer remain silent and to immediately take concrete action for Palestine. Maimon participated virtually, as she is currently still on the GSF voyage in the Mediterranean Sea.

“I am here today because governments around the world have failed to stop the genocide. When those in power choose to remain silent, it becomes the moral responsibility of ordinary people to act,” said Maimon in the forum via video on Wednesday (April 22, 2026).

Furthermore, he also reminded the audience of the constitutional mandate in the 1945 Constitution, which rejects all forms of colonization and oppression against any nation.

“Our Constitution, the 1945 Constitution, explicitly mandates a stance against colonialism and oppression. This is not merely a political stance, but a moral and historical commitment that should guide every action we take today,” he said.

Furthermore, Maimon hopes the parliamentary forum in Brussels can serve as a crucial momentum for nations worldwide to adopt a firmer stance. On that occasion, Maimon admitted he could no longer bear to see children in Gaza falling victim to Israeli Zionist atrocities.

Meanwhile, Wanda Hamidah called for an end to the genocide in Palestine. The actress and humanitarian activist urged all nations worldwide to sever all ties with Israel—including the United States—to halt the genocide in Palestine.

The congress began today and was attended by members of parliament, lawyers, and influencers from more than 100 countries. Wanda stated that Zionist Israel not only occupies Gaza but also other Palestinian cities, including Ramallah, the West Bank, and Hebron.

“I hope that the world, the governments of the world, can stop the genocide in Palestine by blockading and isolating Israeli Zionists and American imperialists, and by refusing to cooperate with them,” she said.

Following the meeting at the Global Sumut Flotilla, the delegates continued with a long march to the front of the parliament building in Brussels. In line with the spirit of the other delegates, Arif Rahmadi Haryono, General Manager of Advocacy at Dompet Dhuafa, also voiced his call, particularly to parliaments in various countries, urging them to push their respective governments to stop being compromising toward the genocide committed by Israel.

“We need to put pressure on the world, especially on parliaments in all countries, to urge their respective governments to no longer be complicit in the crimes of genocide committed by Israel. Hopefully, this can be followed by all countries and all delegates. “We hope that following this meeting, there will be continued advocacy efforts to convey a message to the governments or parliaments of each country to adhere to and comply with international laws and the Brussels Declaration,” stated Arif.

Following the meeting, Arif also expressed hope for further advocacy steps that send a firm message to the governments and parliaments of each country to comply with international law and the Brussels Declaration.
