3 Tons of Aid Arrives in Takengon, Breaking Through Airspace Restrictions

TAKENGON, ACEH —–— Alhamdulillah, 3 tons of humanitarian aid for flash floods and landslides in Sumatra arrived in Takengon, Central Aceh, on Tuesday (12/23/2025) afternoon. The aid was flown by Dompet Dhuafa and its partners from Jakarta and Medan using an ATR aircraft, as several points along the road were still damaged and many access roads were still cut off.

The 3 tons of aid consisted of ready-to-eat food, medicine, water filters, rice, and school kits. Additionally, the ATR aircraft will transport aid to Bener Meriah, Takengon, and surrounding areas. The distribution of this aid is supported by charitable partners Melanin Hero, MK Skin, and Dricha Center. Chiki Fawzi, a Super Volunteer from Dompet Dhuafa, also accompanied this humanitarian mission.

To arrive in Aceh, Dompet Dhuafa and the group had to transit for about 6 hours in Malaysia from Jakarta. Only then could they set foot at Kualanamu Airport, Medan. Transportation ticket prices skyrocketed because it was already the Christmas and New Year holiday season.

The team then continued their journey to the Dompet Dhuafa Post in Medan to prepare the aid to be sent via ATR aircraft, packing and loading the aid onto the plane.

“Bismillah. We are distributing all donations from the Indonesian people by air, 3 tons tonight. Bismillah, we’re keep on moving,” said Chiki Fawzi upon arrival in Medan on Monday (12/22/2025).

The 3 tons of aid will be distributed immediately and collected at the Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Center (DMC) Satellite Post in Takengon.
