WEST JAVA — Compassion can arise from many things, including a cup of coffee enjoyed together. Madaya Coffee also demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian action by distributing donations to disaster survivors in Sumatra through Dompet Dhuafa on Tuesday (14/01/2026) at the Dompet Dhuafa Madina Zone in Jampang, Kemang, Bogor.
Jodi Iswanto, Director of Karya Masyarakat Mandiri (KMM) Dompet Dhuafa, stated that Madaya Coffee’s compassion initiative stems from the trust of its customers and Madaya’s original mission, which has always been to empower coffee farmers in various regions, particularly those affected by disasters.
“Madaya exists because of the trust of our customers. Since its inception, we have carried out a mission to grow together with coffee farmers, especially in areas that have been affected by disasters. We believe that recovery is not only mental, but must also be strengthened economically,” said Jodi.

He explained that Madaya Coffee’s journey began with assisting coffee farmers in various regions such as Bener Meriah (Aceh), Temanggung (Central Java), Bulukumba (South Sulawesi), and Solok (West Sumatra). In fact, many of the coffee beans at Madaya Coffee are sourced from Sumatra. Together with Dompet Dhuafa, Madaya is involved in the post-disaster economic recovery process through community strengthening, cooperative formation, and sustainable coffee business development.
“We believe that building a community must start with building its community. From there, cooperatives, joint ventures, and ultimately economic independence are born. To this day, the farmers we mentor are still our best partners and suppliers,” he said.
Regarding humanitarian donations for Sumatra, Jodi said that Madaya Coffee invites customers to get directly involved through a special disaster relief program. During certain periods, all profits from the sale of Madaya original coffee are donated to help survivors.
“We inform our customers directly that there is a disaster relief program. So, during a certain period, all profits from the purchase of Madaya’s original coffee are donated. Alhamdulillah, the response has been very good. They feel that they are part of this movement of kindness,” he explained.

Through this collaboration, Dompet Dhuafa continues to encourage various parties to join hands in bringing broader benefits to the community, particularly in the post-disaster recovery process and community-based economic strengthening. (Dompet Dhuafa)
