Accelerating Stunting Reduction, Dompet Dhuafa Southeast Sulawesi Launches Nutrition Post Program

SOUTHEAST SULAWESI — South Buton Regency has the highest stunting rate in Southeast Sulawesi. Therefore, Layanan Kesehatan Cuma Cuma (LKC) & Dompet Dhuafa Sultra launched Program Pos Gizi (Nutrition Post Program) to overcome and prevent the problem of stunting in South Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The launch of the Pos Gizi program was held in Burangasi Village, Lapandewa District, South Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, on Thursday (22/12/2022).

The Head of Dompet Dhuafa Sultra Branch, Hassan Afif in his speech said, the Nutrition Post program was a strengthening after previously assisting the Bidan Untuk Negeri program (Midwife Assistance) which had been running since October 2022. The target is children under five who have nutritional problems like stunting or are at risk of stunting, most of whom come from underprivileged families.

“The Nutrition Post program is mainly targeted at children under five who have nutritional problems like stunting or are at risk of stunting. They all come from underprivileged families who deserve to be helped and should be helped,” he said.

The launch of this program began with an interactive discussion with the theme of Collaboration on Reducing Stunting in South Buton at the BKKBN Office in South Buton. Present at the discussion were General Manager of Dompet Dhuafa Health Division, Assistant 3 of the South Buton Regional Secretary, Head of BKKBN South Buton, Head of LKC South Sulawesi and all stakeholders who were members of the Tim Percepatan Penurunan Stunting (Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team) in South Buton.

General Manager of the Health Division of Dompet Dhuafa, dr. Yeni Purnamasari said, one of the implementations of stunting reduction was to present a Nutrition Post. The beneficiaries of the Nutritiom Post activity were 32 toddlers who were indicated by malnutrition and stunting. The Nutrition Post was carried out in 2 phases, in the first phase as many as 13 toddlers were active in nutrition post activities that had been carried out for 2 days.

Through the Nutrition Post, these children and their mothers will get nutritious food intake for 12 consecutive days. They will also receive education and socialization related to healthy lifestyles and nutritious food intake by health cadres managed by Bidan Etty, a midwife of Dompet Dhuafa who is stationed in the region.

“It is hoped that with the assistance of the cadres, it can have a significant impact after being accompanied for 12 days,” dr. Yeni hoped.

The Nutrition Post program is also supported by various parties such as the Burangasi Village Government, Lapandewa Health Center, and the South Buton Regency Government through the South Buton BKKBN.

Assistant 3 of the South Buton Regional Secretary, La Ode Mpute appreciated the program implemented by Dompet Dhuafa Sultra (Dompet Dhuafa Southeast Sulawesi). According to him, Dompet Dhuafa Sultra had the same courage in reducing stunting rates in South Buton.

“This stunting reduction program is amazing. Through this program, Dompet Dhuafa Sultra has supported the vision and mission of the South Buton Regency Government in reducing stunting rates,” said La Ode Mpute.

It is planned that this initial stage will be a total of 13 toddlers and mothers who will benefit from the Nutrition Post program. At the launch of the Nutrition Post moment, Aksi Layanan Sehat (Healthy Service Action) was also held which was attended by 45 residents of Burangasi Village.

Sayati (27 years old), one of the mothers of toddlers who received the benefits of the program, felt helped by the existence of the Nutrition Post. Her child named Hilman (4) got optimal nutritional intake.
