JAKARTA —-— In the final 10 days of Ramadan leading up to Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH, many people continue to seize the opportunity to perfect their worship. One such person is Candra Sakti Saragih (61), who arrived with a beaming smile to give back to his fellow humans through Dompet Dhuafa’s Well Endowment Program.
He carried out this act of kindness by visiting the Dompet Dhuafa Philanthropy Building in South Jakarta on Friday (03/20/2026). Since his home is close to the Philanthropy Building, he walked there alone to donate a portion of his wealth to our brothers and sisters in remote areas facing a clean water crisis.
Furthermore, Candra explained that he chose to donate to the Waqf Well Program because he was reminded of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) saying regarding the virtue of giving water as charity. This inspired him to take an active role in helping communities facing clean water crises.
“I was reminded of when the Prophet’s companions asked, ‘What charity do you like the most?’ The Prophet replied, ‘Charity of water.’ So, that’s how I see it. Moreover, with waqf, even after we pass away, the reward continues. I am also certain that there are still many areas in Indonesia lacking access to water sources,” he explained.

Yes, according to the Dompet Dhuafa Customer Service (CS) team, Candra does indeed visit the Philanthropy Building every Friday. After performing Friday prayers, Candra goes straight to the first floor to complete the Ziswaf (Zakat, Infak, Sedekah, and Wakaf) agreement and join in prayers led by the Dompet Dhuafa CS team.
“I’ve actually known about Dompet Dhuafa for a long time. For about 20 years now, I’ve been setting aside a portion of my income to help others through Dompet Dhuafa. Alhamdulillah, Dompet Dhuafa’s performance has been getting better year after year. It’s making it easier for people to pay zakat, infak, sedekah, and wakaf. May this continue and even improve further,” said Candra.
He admitted that he has known about Dompet Dhuafa for a long time, ever since the establishment of this Islamic philanthropic organization.
“I didn’t learn about Dompet Dhuafa from advertisements. Back then, I was at Republika; that’s where I found out. The information was still available in the Republika newspaper around 1994 or 1995,” explained Candra.
On the other hand, according to Candra, Dompet Dhuafa’s reporting on the management of Ziswaf is excellent. After making a donation, he receives the report promptly.
“It’s great. For example, when I give charity, endowments, or zakat, I immediately receive a notification on WhatsApp. You could say that at the same time, I’ve already received the notification of the report,” he explained.
He hopes Dompet Dhuafa can help the wider community even more. He also prays that Dompet Dhuafa will grow rapidly in the future.
“Insha’Allah, may Dompet Dhuafa continue to advance and develop. May it help more people facing disasters. May everything improve soon,” he concluded.
