ACEH TAMIANG —— Dompet Dhuafa, through its Disaster Management Center (DMC), has installed a borehole well in Suka Damai Hamlet, Rantau Bintang Village, Bandar Pusaka Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang. The borehole well is part of an effort to accelerate the recovery of areas affected by the floods and landslides in Sumatra that occurred in November 2025.
Baharudin, a flood survivor in Rantau Bintang, expressed his gratitude, as clean water has been easily accessible since Tuesday (03/03/2026).
“Alhamdulillah, we are deeply grateful to Allah SWT and thank DMC Dompet Dhuafa for helping us, the residents of Rantau Bintang Village, especially those in Suka Damai Hamlet. With this clean water well, water can now flow into our homes,” said Baharudin.
According to Baharudin, after the flood, before the well was installed, the residents of Rantau Bintang Village relied on clean water aid delivered by water tank trucks.
“We, the residents of Rantau Bintang, waited for clean water donations every day. Or, if it rained, we collected the water in buckets,” said Baharudin.

Sugiyanti, also a resident of Rantau Bintang Village, said that the supply of clean water was unreliable, which meant that she and other villagers often had to collect water from any puddle they could find.
“Before these boreholes were built, we drank whatever water we could find on the ground while we were in the evacuation center. After we returned home, we waited and waited for clean water. Sometimes we got it, sometimes we didn’t. Because it had run out. “We often didn’t get any (clean water),” explained Sugiyanti.
After DMC Dompet Dhuafa built boreholes at two locations in Rantau Bintang Village, Sugiyanti could access water at any time without worrying about shortages.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s made things easier. Because at night we don’t have to go through the trouble of searching for water. The water source is right nearby, isn’t it? We don’t have to go through the trouble of finding water for drinking, cooking, or any other household needs. Before, it was extremely difficult for us to get clean water,” said Sugiyanti.
“We are very grateful for the water from this borehole. To get clean water, we don’t have to wait for water aid. We just have to take it. We also thank Dompet Dhuafa for providing borehole assistance to our village,” she concluded.

The construction of these boreholes is part of a post-disaster recovery program carried out by DMC Dompet Dhuafa in areas affected by floods and landslides in Aceh Tamiang.
“In addition to meeting the urgent need for clean water, this facility is expected to gradually restore residents’ daily activities, particularly in terms of health, sanitation, and community resilience,” said Ahmad Yamin, DMC Dompet Dhuafa’s Response Coordinator for Aceh Tamiang.
DMC Dompet Dhuafa considers access to clean water to be the most critical need following the emergency response phase; therefore, providing a permanent water source is a strategic step to accelerate recovery and reduce dependence on clean water aid. (Dompet Dhuafa)
