MENTAWAI ISLANDS, WEST SUMATRA —-— The Corps Dai Dompet Dhuafa (Cordofa) once again distributed aid in the Tubeket Hamlet, Makalo Village, South Pagai District, Mentawai Islands. Located at the Nurul Huda Mosque, the aid distribution took place on Friday (4/29/2022).
Ustadz Angga Prasetija, one of the Dai Cordofa in the Mentawai interior, said that they left for Tubeket Hamlet with a team from Sikakap Mentawai Subdistrict. They traveled across the sea for about 2 hours, carrying cooking equipment and raw materials that they had purchased in the subdistrict center. “While sharing, we also held a gathering to break the fast together. The people of Tubeket Hamlet were very enthusiastic; they welcomed us and cooked together. Their brothers and sisters from other hamlets also joined in to experience the togetherness of breaking the fast together, even though some of them were non-Muslims. Alhamdulillah, it is a tradition to gather before Eid al-Fitr,” said Ustadz Angga.
During the 30 days of Ramadan 1443 Hijri, it was only on that day that Tubeket Hamlet held a joint iftar event with Dompet Dhuafa Singglang. In the Pabukuan program, around 46 families (180 people) from Tubeket community were present there. The event began with cooking together with the women of the Majelis Ta’lim, performances by the children of the Nurul Huda Mosque TPQ, and the main event of breaking the fast together. “May the support and assistance of the donors, both Dompet Dhuafa and others, become a source of reward and increase the enthusiasm of the Muslim community in the Mentawai hinterland to maintain unity and togetherness in obedience at the end of Ramadan,” concluded Ustadz Angga.
