MEDAN, NORTH SUMATRA —-— The major floods that occurred on the islands of Aceh and Sumatra attracted a lot of attention, even becoming an international concern. People around the world reached out to help the survivors of the flash floods in Aceh and Sumatra. One of these groups was the American community. They channeled their aid through the Dompet Dhuafa USA branch.
“Alhamdulillah, we have distributed this aid to the areas that were severely affected by the disaster. The distribution in South Tapanuli targeted 1,000 beneficiaries,” said Sulaiman, Head of Dompet Dhuafa’s Waspada Branch, in a text message on Sunday (11/30/2025).
“This aid consists of various foods and basic necessities for the next few days. In addition, there is also mineral water. Until tonight, the survivors are in dire need of basic necessities, hygiene kits, clothing, and blankets,” added Sulaiman.
In addition, Dompet Dhuafa Waspada also continues to distribute aid in the form of logistics, both in the form of ready-to-eat meals and the establishment of Warm Posts.
“The Dompet Dhuafa and Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Disaster Management Center (DMC) teams worked together to evacuate 90 victims. They also distributed food to areas that were untouched and difficult to access, including evacuation sites, with a total of 3,334 beneficiaries,” said Sulaiman.
Sulaiman further said, “Meanwhile, at the Tanjungpura-Hinai border, Tanjungpura District, Langkat Regency, we have set up a Warm Post and distributed ready-to-eat meals to survivors, with a total of 370 beneficiaries.”
The Warm Post is located on Jalan Medan-Banda Aceh, Cempa Village, Tanjungpura, Langkat.
