Aid Remains a Mainstay, Dompet Dhuafa and La Galigo Foundation Distribute Mother & Child Packages and Basic Necessities to Residents Affected by Disaster in Bireuen, Aceh

BIREUEN, ACEH —-— Mud sediment left over from the November 2025 disaster still covers the Kuta Blang subdistrict in Bireuen Regency. The scorching midday sun, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius, adds to the dust that flies up when vehicles pass by. Many residents’ homes are still covered in dry mud.

Activities in Keurumbok Village, Kuta Blang, are also limited. One survivor, Mrs. Lina, said she has not been able to return to farming. Her rice fields were submerged in mud that has since dried. Since the disaster, she and her family have had to take refuge in her relatives’ home.

“Our family has just been able to move back into our house after spending a month cleaning up the mud,” said Mrs. Lina.

On Monday (02/16/2025), Dompet Dhuafa, through its Disaster Management Center (DMC) team, once again distributed aid packages for mothers and children, as well as basic necessities, to residents of Keurumbok Village.

This assistance is a gesture of solidarity and concern from the La Galigo Foundation (Ivtar), entrusted to Dompet Dhuafa.

“We are very grateful that the Dompet Dhuafa DMC team is still present in Aceh and providing assistance to our village. Because right now, that is what we still rely on,” explained Mrs. Lina again.

In the afternoon, at a different location, hundreds of residents enthusiastically participated in the distribution of meugang (eating and cooking together) aid ahead of Ramadan, as well as the presence of Pos Hangat Darling (Mobile Kitchen). They are refugees who are still living in tents in the courtyard of the Meunasah Raya Village mosque, Meurah Dua District, Pidie Jaya Regency.
