JAKARTA —-— Alhamdulillah, good news has come from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission. Today, Thursday (May 21, 2026), all humanitarian activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 and the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) who were previously kidnapped by Israeli Zionists, including nine Indonesian citizens (WNI), have reportedly been released and are now in the process of returning to their respective countries.
This information was confirmed by the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) after receiving an update from the Adalah Legal Center’s legal team through international diplomatic channels. GPCI confirmed that all humanitarian volunteers in the GSF group who were previously kidnapped have now been released and are in the process of returning to their homeland.
“Alhamdulillah, our brothers and sisters are on the list provided by the occupiers to the team, and their names are among those scheduled to board (the plane), but whether they can truly be freed from their captors or not remains to be seen—we are awaiting further information,” said Maimon Herawati, Steering Committee Member of Global Peace Convoy Indonesia.
After repeated efforts, global solidarity for humanitarian causes led Israel to release 428 Global Peace Convoy activists.

On the same day this article was written, Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed in a statement posted on the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official account.
“The Indonesian government is grateful to announce that the nine Indonesian citizens who were detained by the Israeli military during the interception of the ship and the arrest of volunteers participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 They are currently en route out of Israeli territory to Istanbul, Turkey, and will soon continue their journey back to Indonesia,” said Sugiono.
They will be flown to Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday afternoon local time via Umm Al Rashrash Airport, known by Israel as Eilat/Ramon Airport. The news has been confirmed by several sources, although the situation on the ground remains highly fluid and subject to change at any time.

The GSF delegates are scheduled to depart on three Turkish Airlines flights that will take off from the Palestinian territories. The three flight numbers reportedly to be used are TK 6919, TK 6921, and TK 6925.
The Adalah Legal Center team continues to monitor the activists’ transit process to ensure the entire delegation is safely deported. Meanwhile, the return of the GSF humanitarian delegates to Istanbul is reportedly being carried out via a special Turkish Airlines flight chartered by the Turkish government, rather than a regular flight route.
“This deportation process will begin with an interview—a kind of screening of all participants conducted by Israeli authorities—followed by their transfer to the airport and subsequent deportation. We are still monitoring these developments directly,” stated Syamsul Ardiansyah, a GPCI activist and Strategic Alliance Manager at Dompet Dhuafa.

At the same time, Dompet Dhuafa, along with several other humanitarian organizations, held a “Kamisan” protest in front of the Presidential Palace on Thursday (May 21, 2026). Participants observed a moment of silence and voiced their concern and calls for the release of the nine members of the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia humanitarian delegation.
Continue to speak out and monitor this situation; please keep the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia delegates in your prayers. May the humanitarian delegates be able to return home to Indonesia. (Dompet Dhuafa)
