JAKARTA — The Indonesia Marketing Association (IMA) DKI Jakarta held a gathering event entitled Small Medium Enterprise & Tourism Day on Sunday (11/9/2022), at Gedung Sarinah 5th Floor, Menteng, Central Jakarta. This activity is a form of contribution from economic drivers to the progress of the country. As a non-governmental organization, Dompet Dhuafa certainly does not want to be left out of this activity.
This IMA DKI Jakarta gathering was packed with several interesting activities, ranging from Family Fun Bike activities, seminars, coaching classes to exhibitions of MSME products and services.
Andi Rahim, Daily Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta IMA Chapter, hopes that with this activity, it will be possible to review the potentials of MSMEs so that they can be synergized with many things. The discussion about the potential of MSMEs was thoroughly explored by a number of speakers, namely from the Representative of Bank Indonesia DKI Jakarta, the General Secretary of ICSB, the Chairperson of ID SEED, to the Economic Division of Dompet Dhuafa represented by the Head of the Social Trust Fund Dompet Dhuafa Dodi Subardi.
“The event opened with a Family Fun Bike involving dozens of participants from Jakarta and its surroundings. This was followed by a seminar entitled The Role of SMEs in the Tourism Industry,” said Andi.

At this event, MSME participants also received a number of tips on developing their businesses. Starting from easy tips on digital access for MSMEs, MSME funding, tax management for MSMEs, to how to start a business as a startup. Dodi Subardi hopes that with their involvement in the IMA DKI Jakarta Gathering, Dompet Dhuafa beneficiaries who have the potential can access all available digital marketing features.
“This is one of Dompet Dhuafa’s efforts to facilitate beneficiaries so that they are able to have the potential to access all available digital marketing features, such as AstraPay, Maucash and others, so that it can facilitate them (beneficiaries of the Dompet Dhuafa economic program) in terms of access to business and marketing,” he explained.

In his opportunity to explain the Dompet Dhuafa economic program, Dodi explained that Dompet Dhuafa has an economic empowerment system for the poor. This system covers the entire business process from upstream to downstream with a closed and integrated chain. The forms vary, ranging from the empowerment of agriculture, livestock, plantations, fisheries, MSME industries to marketing and financial management.
In agriculture and animal husbandry, the business process includes production facilities, improvement of farmer human resources, funding with zakat or waqf, ease of market access and farmer business cooperatives. Currently, Dompet Dhuafa has 1000 hectares of empowerment farmland, consisting of rice, horticulture, ornamental plants and toga. Meanwhile, in the livestock sector, Dompet Dhuafa empowers small farmers to develop sheep/goat, cattle, poultry, and consumption fish ponds.
Dodi then explained the funding for MSME actors, namely from ziswaf funds and also managed with ziswaf funds. Dompet Dhuafa manages ziswaf funds to realize an agricultural cultivation-based food security program in villages that collaborate with farmer groups and local stakeholders. This is to support the availability of working capital, production support facilities, farm business development and improvement of farmers’ welfare.
“The absorption will be other social programs, for example, Food for Dhuafa,” he explained.

Dodi emphasized that funding from Dompet Dhuafa is only for those who fall under the 8 (eight) categories of zakat recipients, including the poor, the needy, the amil (those who manage zakat funds), the muallaf (those who have been converted to Islam), those in debt, the ibnu sabil (those traveling on pilgrimage), the riqob (those in prison), and those who are struggling in the way of Allah. Dodi invited all parties to work together with Dompet Dhuafa in empowering the poor.
“So if you have a program that involves these 8 asnaf, let’s collaborate. Dompet Dhuafa does indeed serve the underprivileged to improve their welfare and lift them out of the shackles of poverty,” concluded Dodi.
Another involvement of Dompet Dhuafa in the IMA DKI Jakarta Gathering was to hold an exhibition of MSME products fostered by Dompet Dhuafa that were brought in from various regions. The products resulting from this empowerment are proof that with zakat funds, the community is able to produce quality products and compete with other products. (Dompet Dhuafa / Muthohar)
