Buying While Donating, Here’s the Story Behind Pojok Kenangan

JAKARTA – The Jakarta Humanity Festival (Jakhumfest) event, Sunday (29/1/2023) took place at Pos Bloc, Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, also enlivened by the existence of the Pojok Kenangan (Reminiscence Corner) booth.

This booth contains an exhibition of goods belonging to public figures in Indonesia. These items include clothes, bags, shoes, socks, prayer rugs, and many more. Each of these items has a unique memory story of each owner. One of them belongs to Rona Mentari, a public figure who has donated outers, hoodies, and batik.

“Chicken batik clothes, this is the dearest for storytelling. The material is batik with a chicken stamp pattern. If I wore this, my confidence would have increased a lot. Hopefully, you will wear it too!” explained the clothes owner to Dompet Dhuafa.

Dompet Dhuafa Brand Activation, Ulfa Keke explained that the items were deliberately collected from public figures and Key Opinion Leaders (KOL), as a form of their act of kindness. These memorable items are sold at preloved prices whose sales are then collected as donations for humanity.

Memorable items sold at Jakhumfest 2023 are priced starting from IDR 5000-IDR 200,000, of course, this donation is not only the result of kindness of the previous owners of the goods, but also the result of the kindness and concern of the owner of the goods afterwards.  So, every item sold will have at least three values, namely the story value of the previous owner, the value of the donation from the previous owner, and the value of the donation from the owner afterwards.

Later, the sales from the sale of memorable items will be all donated, especially for the Shoecial Movement program, giving shoes to Cianjur children.

Furthermore, Rona revealed her reason for contributing to Jakhumfest 2023, as well as supporting the annual event.

“Because we want to be able to give our best. The friends in Cianjur have been struggling for so long because of the earthquake disaster. Hopefully, this can help a little,” Rona concluded.

Liana, one of the visitors of Jakhumfest 2023 stopped by this booth and made a purchase transaction. According to her, Jakhumfest 2023 was an effective breakthrough to increase public awareness to help each other. She also participated by buying one of the memorable items, that was the black outer with a price of Rp. 50,000.

“It happened to I already knew about the event, but I didn’t know what the content was. So I just went around… and then I saw this (Pojok Kenangan), and interestingly, we can shop while donating,” said Liana.

Hopefully the Pojok Kenangan can raise people’s awareness, because actually many people need us. (Dompet Dhuafa/Anndini Dwi Putri)
