BOGOR, WEST JAVA – Amidst the natural beauty of Puncak, Bogor, a group of women from Dompet Dhuafa’s Disaster Management Center (DMC) performed an unusual action. With great courage, they “split the sky” using paragliders, flying the Indonesian and Palestinian flags high on Friday (10/11/2024). This action was not just an extreme sport, but a strong statement of solidarity and humanity.
Behind the spectacular action was a familiar face from Dompet Dhuafa’s DMC team, Kamelia, an experienced figure who has served at DMC for 12 years. There is also Nabila Ainiyah, a new face at DMC who joined since the beginning of 2024 who is full of enthusiasm.
For ten minutes, they flew the flag of Indonesia alongside the flag of Palestine, and a cloth with the words #DoNotForgetPalestine. Hundreds of pairs of eyes witnessed this action. They were two of the women who participated. Those who usually deal with numbers in the finance department, showed that their social spirit never dies.
“Ten minutes of flying feels short even though the preparation is quite long and adapts to nature. But the message we want to convey is profound. Through this action, we want to remind you that the genocide in Palestine has not ended and our brothers and sisters still need support,” said Kamelia, a DMC Dompet Dhuafa officer, in her first experience of paragliding while flying the flag of Palestine.

Meanwhile, Nabila, who admitted to being afraid of heights, managed to conquer her fear for a greater cause.
“I see this as an opportunity to try new experiences,” she says. “I want to prove that everyone, regardless of their occupation, can contribute to humanity,” Nabila added enthusiastically.
This paragliding action is not just a ceremonial action. Behind it, there is a deep message to be conveyed: solidarity for Palestine, the importance of humanity, and the spirit of freedom. By flying the Palestinian flag along with the Indonesian flag, these women want to show their full support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.
This action is also a reminder that humanity knows no boundaries. Every individual has the responsibility to help others in need. Paragliding, as a symbol of freedom, reflects the hope for peace and freedom for all humanity, especially for the Palestinian people who are still suffering from colonization.

The paragliding action carried out by DMC Dompet Dhuafa is clear evidence that the spirit of humanity can unite us all. The women of Dompet Dhuafa have shown that with courage and dedication, we can make positive changes, no matter how small. Let us continue to support humanitarian efforts and together realize a more just and peaceful world.
“From the beginning of entering the DMC, it was emphasized that even though they joined the finance team, they must also be ready to be needed in the field because the field is humanitarian and disaster. So when needed in the field, we are ready to go too,” concluded Nabila.
Dompet Dhuafa plans to continue to carry out similar actions as a form of support for Palestine. Various creative and innovative activities will continue to be initiated to increase public awareness of the importance of the issue of Palestinian independence.
