WEST SUMATRA —-— Flash floods that hit the city of Padang on November 28, 2025, caused severe damage in a number of areas, particularly in the Koto Tangah subdistrict. Conditions on the ground showed that mud, wood, and building debris had buried dozens of residents’ homes.
Seeing these conditions, Dompet Dhuafa Singgalang together with the Disaster Management Center (DMC) continued to serve the community through emergency response services on Sunday (12/7/2025).
“Cleaning has been carried out from morning to evening, assisted by a team of volunteers working together with local residents,” said Amrullah, DMC Dompet Dhuafa Field PIC in Padang City.
On the ground, conditions are increasingly difficult because the PDAM water supply is still completely cut off. This has slowed down the process of cleaning houses and the surrounding area.
Amidst this situation, the Dompet Dhuafa Singgalang Public Kitchen continues to operate non-stop to ensure that ready-to-eat meals are available for affected residents.

Throughout the day, Dompet Dhuafa’s response team in Padang City has been operating a number of humanitarian services, including a public kitchen that cooked 300 servings of food, distributed 100 packages of rice, and distributed 80 food packages to residents who are still struggling to meet their basic needs.
Although cleanup efforts have been progressing, conditions on the ground show that the need for assistance remains high. This has resulted in many residents being unable to resume their normal activities due to severely damaged homes and furniture, while clean water networks have not yet been restored.
Seeing this situation, volunteers remain on standby until Sunday night to deal with the potential for further bad weather and to ensure that assistance continues to reach all affected residents.
There are still many basic necessities that need to be distributed to disaster survivors on the island of Sumatra. For this reason, Dompet Dhuafa invites all Indonesians to set aside a small portion of their income and donate through digital.dompetdhuafa.org/donasi/prayforsumatera. (Dompet Dhuafa)
