MEDAN, NORTH SUMATRA -– Dompet Dhuafa, through the Indonesian Literacy School (SLI) Great Edunesia, together with Astra Financial, has completed the Financial Literacy Creation (KLIK) program, which ran for six months from March to August 2025. The program, which officially ended on Monday (8/25/2025), targeted teachers and students from the Perkumpulan Amal Bakti (PAB) Medan, North Sumatra, with the aim of strengthening teachers’ understanding and skills in introducing financial literacy to students from an early age.
The KLIK program was implemented with the support of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from Astra Financial’s sharia business units, namely AMITRA, which is FIFGroup’s sharia financing service, ACC Syariah, Asuransi Astra Syariah, and TAF Syariah.
Efforts to improve financial literacy in Indonesia have gained momentum following the issuance of Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) 3/2023 on Improving Financial Literacy and Inclusion, as well as the National Movement for Financial Literacy (GENCARKAN) initiated by the government in 2024. This is based on the results of the 2024 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK), which shows that the financial literacy index of the Indonesian people has only reached 65.43%, and inclusion 75.02%.

The gap is also evident in the Medan region, with a financial literacy index of only 56.10% (2023), which is below the national average. In fact, financially vulnerable groups such as women, youth and students, MSMEs, 3T communities, people with disabilities, and Indonesian migrant workers are in dire need of financial skills to improve their quality of life.
Based on these conditions, Dompet Dhuafa and Astra Financial launched the KLIK Program as an effort to strengthen the capacity of PAB teachers in North Sumatra so that they are able to instill the basics of financial literacy in students from an early age.
For six months, the program ran systematically with the following stages:
● Program Kick Off and Workshop – March 14, 2025
● Facilitator Training – June 4, 2025
● KLIK Module Workshop – June 10–13, 2025
● Module Development Assistance – June 14–July 13, 2025
● KLIK Implementation in Schools – July 14–31, 2025
● Compilation of Implementation Results – August 1–20, 2025
● Competition & Appreciation – August 25, 2025
In this program, teachers receive training and assistance in developing financial literacy-based learning modules and implementing them with students.

Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin, General Manager of ZIS (Zakat, Infak, Sedekah) Collection, Dompet Dhuafa, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Astra Financial. He said, “Alhamdulillah, we are very proud to be able to collaborate again with Astra Financial. Of course, this program is very beneficial for all groups, especially teachers and students of Dompet Dhuafa partner schools in Medan, North Sumatra. One of them is in schools. So, starting from schools, we will create a financially literate generation.”
He added, “This financial literacy creation is one of SLI Dompet Dhuafa’s efforts to bring literacy closer to children through creative, fun, and meaningful ways. One of them is to strengthen finances. How then is this financial literacy set or designed into fun activities for children?”
“We hope that KLIK will not only stop here, but will also be sustainable. Teachers will become accustomed to designing literacy-based learning in their schools.”

On the beneficiary side, a teacher representative from SMP PAB 1 Klumpang said, “We have benefited greatly from this learning. All teachers now know more about how to manage finances well, especially for our school. And we can teach our students so that they can manage their personal finances wisely.“
”They (the students) were enthusiastic about the savings activity carried out in the magic piggy bank, which they could see for themselves. It turns out that they are proud. Their enthusiasm impressed us and it was exciting to see their activities. As a result, joy appeared on the faces of the junior high school scouts at PAB 1 Klumpang.“
”It broadened our knowledge and improved our financial literacy, and God willing, we will be able to implement it after this activity. We hope that Dompet Dhuafa’s Indonesian Literacy School (SLI) will carry out more activities like this.”
