Dompet Dhuafa and BTN Syariah Collaborate to Provide Easy ZIS and Waqf Services

JAKARTA — Dompet Dhuafa strives to provide convenient services to the public in making zakat, infaq, almsgiving, waqf, and qurban. This time, Dompet Dhuafa, in collaboration with BTN Syariah, plans to develop various Islamic banking service products in all Islamic philanthropic activities. On Wednesday (5/10/2022), the two signed cooperation at Dompet Dhuafa Office, Philanthropy Building, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

The signing of the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and BTN Syariah was carried out by Director of Resource Mobilization (REMO) Etika Setiawanti and EVP sharia business head of UUS Bank BTN Abdul Firman. After that, there was also a discussion related to waqf programs which was attended by General Manager of Waqf Dompet Dhuafa Bobby Manulang, Chairman of Wakaferse Dompet Dhuafa 2022 Sulis Tiqomah, VP Department Head of Commercial Funding and Service UUS Bank BTN Slamet Wahyudi, Branch Manager of BTN Syariah Jakarta Pasar Minggu Muhammad Arasy, as well as the team of Dompet Dhuafa and BTN Syariah.

Etika Setiawanti expressed her pleasure and gratitude to BTN Syariah for this collaboration. Especially at this time, Dompet Dhuafa is intensively carrying out invitations to waqf through the Wakaferse program. She explained that it was time for the community to further and more broadly explore literacy about waqf. After the last 2 (two) years, Dompet Dhuafa has tried to introduce waqf done very easily through the Wake-Up Wakaf program, and now people should be more literate that waqf has such a broad meaning, similar to the concept of this universe.

“Alhamdulillah, in recent years, through the Wake-Up Wakaf program, Dompet Dhuafa has succeeded in encouraging the public, especially millennials, to do waqf. Even people can do waqf for just the price of a cup of coffee. Now the waqf has risen. Therefore, we tried to introduce more about waqf through Wakaferse, which is a universe of waqf,” she explained.

Director of Resource Mobilization (REMO) Etika Setiawanti explained the programs in Dompet Dhuafa.

This collaboration in Islamic banking service products is none other than the development of donation or transaction platforms for the convenience of Zakat, infaq, almsgiving, waqf, and qurban. Later, all forms of services in BTN Syariah banking will become a feature of convenience for both customers and the general public. Dompet Dhuafa also gained access to this banking system for the convenience of Ziswaf and qurban services for the donors. Abdul Firman, EVP Sharia Business Head of UUS Bank BTN, said that BTN Syariah strongly supports the waqf development program in Dompet Dhuafa. One of them will later collaborate in the development of waqf from an economic point of view. Through this collaboration, BTN Syariah expressed its commitment to finance the collaboration program with Dompet Dhuafa, especially on the development of productive economic waqf. An example of a program that will be carried out later is the construction of a food court in Lampung. Programs like this are planned to be implemented immediately this year.

“Thank you for kindly accepting us to cooperate with Dompet Dhuafa. My visit to Dompet Dhuafa became a form of self-introspection for me. I feel amazed by Dompet Dhuafa, who can professionally manage community funds excellently,” said Firman.

Slamet Wahyudi spoke about possible programs that can be collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa.

The team members of Dompet Dhuafa and BTN Syariah discussed conveying ideas about productive waqf.

BTN Syariah itself is ranked fifth with the largest asset value in Indonesia, with a government share ownership of 60 percent. The public holds 40 percent of the shares. This is undoubtedly an excellent opportunity for BTN and Dompet Dhuafa to manage and develop public funds. In addition, BTN also has an internal Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) institution that has been running well for a long time. Adding to Firman’s, Slamet Wahyudi, VP Department Head of Commercial Funding and Service UUS Bank BTN, said that BTN Syariah is intensively developing money waqf products and has a license certificate as a Sharia Financial Institution receiving Waqf Money (LKS-PWU) by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. “We also have waqf programs in collaboration with waqf nazirs. We are also trying to develop how people waqf easily through our mobile banking and other digital platforms,” he explained.

Furthermore, continued Slamet, BTN hopes it will be able to more actively carry out campaigns about waqf with Dompet Dhuafa through their respective platforms. That way, it can spur even faster social programs, especially waqf, to prosper the community.
