Dompet Dhuafa and GNFI Launch the #GerakanBorongTakjil Campaign to Support Micro-MSMEs in Ramadan 1447 H

JAKARTA —-— During the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H, Dompet Dhuafa and Good News From Indonesia (GNFI) have joined forces to launch a collaborative program titled #GerakanBorongTakjil. This program is designed to strengthen the economic sustainability of small takjil vendors and underprivileged micro-MSME operators who often face income uncertainty during the fasting month.

Through a digital platform, this movement integrates the roles of the public as proposers, donors (muzaki), and beneficiaries (mustahik) within a single transparent and verified ecosystem. This initiative represents an innovative form of philanthropy that encourages active and direct public engagement.

Ramadan in Indonesia is synonymous with the tradition of hunting for takjil. Yet behind this festive atmosphere, many small vendors still rely on daily sales to meet basic needs. Limited capital and slow business turnover remain the primary challenges for them to survive, let alone grow.

On the other hand, current trends in community philanthropy highlight a growing need for transparency and greater participation. The public not only wants to give but also wants to know firsthand who benefits and how the distribution process is carried out.

To address this need, the #GerakanBorongTakjil initiative serves as a bridge between public compassion and the real needs of micro-SME operators. This program invites the public to nominate takjil vendors in their area who meet the criteria via the official website gerakanborongtakjil.id.

Eligibility Criteria and Program Mechanism

Takjil vendors eligible for nomination are micro-scale business owners operating independently, whether as individuals or families. These businesses may take the form of small stalls, home-based operations, or seasonal businesses during Ramadan, and must not be part of a medium-sized business or a franchise.

From an economic perspective, potential beneficiaries must fall into the low-income category, have limited capital, and rely on daily earnings to meet their basic living needs. Additionally, they must meet the criteria as mustahik (the poor or needy) and will be verified by Dompet Dhuafa.

The products sold consist of traditional takjil or homemade items that are safe for consumption and reflect local wisdom. The purchased goods will later be redistributed to the surrounding community, ensuring the program’s benefits are widely felt.

The public can submit recommendations for sellers by filling out a nomination form that includes details, location, a brief story, and a photo. Each nomination will undergo a verification process by the GNFI and Dompet Dhuafa teams before being announced on a weekly basis.

Once approved, the Dompet Dhuafa team, along with the nominator, will visit the seller’s location to make the bulk purchase according to the allocated funds. In addition to providing direct economic benefits to the vendors, the purchased takjil is also distributed to the local community.

Meanwhile, donors can contribute through Dompet Dhuafa’s digital platform. The funds raised will be managed transparently and distributed based on verified proposals. Donors will also receive regular updates regarding the distribution and impact of the program.

Collaboration to Highlight Stories of Kindness

In this collaboration, GNFI serves as a story curator, highlighting the inspiring stories of takjil vendors from various regions. Meanwhile, Dompet Dhuafa acts as the program manager, handling everything from verifying beneficiaries, managing funds, to on-the-ground implementation.

GNFI CEO Wahyu Aji stated that this program serves as a platform to present and amplify positive stories within the community.

“As a media outlet focused on spreading good news, we see many inspiring stories that often go unnoticed. #GerakanBorongTakjil serves as a platform to highlight these stories through public participation, while also sharing them to inspire more people,” he said.

He added that this collaboration is expected to have not only an economic impact but also to foster a collective movement born from the community’s immediate surroundings.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of Dompet Dhuafa’s Ramadan 1447 H Committee, Sulistiqomah, explained that this program is part of the “Borong Dagangan Saudaramu” initiative, which focuses on economic empowerment.

“This program is economically based, where we purchase goods from MSMEs following an assessment to ensure recipients are eligible beneficiaries. During Ramadan, Dompet Dhuafa aims to assist one MSME every day,” she explained.

Dompet Dhuafa’s Community Relations Officer, Dimas Muttakhin, added that this collaboration represents a breakthrough by involving active community participation, both in program proposals and monitoring.

Wide Reach and Public Participation

The #GerakanBorongTakjil program covers various regions across Indonesia, ranging from South Sulawesi, Yogyakarta, Central Java, Maluku, Lampung, Riau, East Kalimantan, to West Java, involving Dompet Dhuafa’s regional branch network.

The program launch took place via a landing page on February 15, 2026, followed by a social media campaign on February 16, 2026. The proposal and donation period runs until March 10, 2026, while aid distribution takes place throughout the month of Ramadan with a target of at least one distribution per day.

Through this program, Dompet Dhuafa and GNFI are encouraging the public not just to be spectators, but to actively participate in this movement of kindness. #GerakanBorongTakjil is expected to strengthen the economy of micro-SMEs while expanding the benefits of sharing takjil with the community during Ramadan.
