Dompet Dhuafa Bali Holds a Roadshow on Body Preparation Training for the Muslim Communities of Buleleng and Denpasar

BULELENG, BALI — Currently, the role of an undertaker in society is often underestimated. In fact, the ability to prepare the body from washing to burial in accordance with Islamic law is not always possessed by everyone. This is where the role of an undertaker is very important in the community.

Seeing the importance of embalming skills in the community, Dompet Dhuafa Bali took the initiative to hold an Embalming Training Roadshow for the Muslim community in Bali. The roadshow was held from August 3-6, 2022, at four locations.

Some of the locations used as training points include Al Iman Kampung Baru Mosque, Jamik Singaraja Mosque, Jamik Safiinatus Salam Mosque, and Quratta A’yun Mosque in Denpasar. This training on embalming the dead was in collaboration with the Barzah Team of Dompet Dhuafa.

“We held this Roadshow of the Body Preparation Training in the Buleleng and Denpasar areas, due to the high demand from the Muslim community, especially in the Buleleng area,” said Fadly Hassan, Head of Dompet Dhuafa Bali.

This training successfully gained high attention from the community by presenting Ustaz Madroi, S.Sos.I as the Head of Barzah Dompet Dhuafa. So far, in the preparation of the body, the community is often confused about distinguishing which is the obligatory harmony in sharia or local tradition. This problem is feared to be the cause of disputes in the community about how to prepare the body properly and correctly.

“The purpose of this training activity is to build understanding, so that the community no longer feels afraid and has difficulty in handling the body. Apart from that, the most important thing is that we want to build awareness in the community to be willing to help in taking care of the body in their neighborhood. Hopefully, the community can provide their expertise and knowledge to help the community, especially those who are in need of handling the burial of the deceased in the surrounding area,” explained Ustadz Madroi.

Dompet Dhuafa wants the whole community to have the skills to properly embalm the bodies. With this ability, it is hoped that the community’s concern for the environment around them, which needs help regarding the embalming of bodies, can be increased and they will not need to feel afraid.
