Dompet Dhuafa Gives Ramadan Gift Packages to Mrs. Sri, a Caring Teacher and True Housewife

GUNUNGKIDUL —-— During Ramadan 1443, Dompet Dhuafa is present with the hashtag #JadiManfaat. On the second day, Monday (April 4, 2022), Dompet Dhuafa distributed Ramadan parcels containing food packages to a female teacher at the YAPPI TEGALWERU Private Elementary School (MIS) in Trosari 2, Tepus Village, Tepus District, Gunungkidul Regency. The teacher and resilient mother is Sri Lestari (41).
Sri has dedicated herself as an education hero in Tepus since 2000 when she was 19 years old. This means she has educated 22 batches of students to date.
Currently, Ms. Sri is entrusted with teaching nine fourth-grade students. Her bachelor’s degree in Islamic education (S.Pd.I) has earned her the full trust of everyone, from the principal and other teachers to the students’ parents. However, Ms. Sri is actually a temporary teacher whose salary is far from sufficient to meet her family’s needs.

“If you calculate it based on an honorarium of Rp250,000, it certainly won’t be enough for a month. But I believe that fortune comes from unexpected places. Alhamdulillah, until now, our family has always been in good health,” she said.

At home, she lives with her husband and her beloved mother. She also has to take care of her elderly mother. Her husband works as a farmer, spending his days gathering grass in the fields. Although they seem to be lacking in terms of finances, Bu Sri’s family has a strong sense of gratitude. Whatever and however much she has today, she is always grateful for it.

Today, she received Ramadan parcels from Dompet Dhuafa donors. Her joy and gratitude grew even more. Words of prayer for the donors repeatedly came out of the lips of this loving woman.

“Thank you to the Dompet Dhuafa donors who always care about education in the villages of this country. Insha Allah, this will motivate us to continue striving to improve the quality of education in Indonesia,” she said.

It is undeniable that people call Mrs. Sri a strong woman. At school, she is a caring teacher, while at home she is a true housewife. Early in the morning, she cooks, sweeps, helps her mother and husband with breakfast, and does other household chores. Then she leaves for school, always on time. After school, after the midday prayer, she returns home and then does the laundry. (Dompet Dhuafa / Muthohar)
