In addition to Dompet Dhuafa, there were nine other awardees on the 60th Correctional Service Day, on Monday (29/04/2024), at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Ceremony Field, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

The Correctional Service Day with the theme “Corrections SURE Impact” is a commemoration of the major transformation of the punishment system in Indonesia from the prison system / confinement of prisoners to the correctional system. This is to reform lawbreakers towards a better direction. Prisoners who follow the program and behave well are rewarded. Conversely, prisoners who make mistakes are given disciplinary action and further guidance. Yasonna said in his speech.

“Criminalization in the future is not only able to provide a just solution, but also to restore. Law as tool of social engineering. Law must be able to become a tool for social engineering towards goodness,” he said.

That way, after the prisoners leave the prison, they do not receive rejection from the community, negative labels, and the concept of crime as a biological product against prisoners.

Juperta Panji Utama said that this appreciation will further arouse other parties who are motivated to get involved in similar programs.

“Hopefully, this will be a trigger for the community to get involved in programs for fostering prisoners with Dompet Dhuafa and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. In addition, the trust of the government and civil society is an encouragement for us to run every program to continue to be better. So that with that, prisoners who are declared eligible to return to society, really have a positive impact on their environment, “he said.

Dompet Dhuafa believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to become a cadre of preachers, at least preaching to themselves and their families at home. Dompet Dhuafa has sent many preachers throughout the archipelago who come from various backgrounds, including those with prisoner backgrounds. In fact, Dompet Dhuafa has specially compiled a curriculum to galvanize prisoners to become good students, even to become preachers. (Dompet Dhuafa)
