PURWAKARTA – A landslide and ground movement struck Kampung Cigintung and Sukamulya, Pasir Munjul Village, Sukatani Subdistrict, Purwakarta Regency, West Java on Friday (June 13, 2025).
According to data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Purwakarta District as of June 20, 256 people or 86 families were affected by the disaster and are currently displaced. Additionally, 69 houses were damaged, and one place of worship was destroyed.
According to the monitoring by the Disaster Management Center (DMC) of Dompet Dhuafa, the incident was caused by extreme weather conditions, steep slopes with insufficient vegetation, and poor drainage systems.
In addition, the affected areas also have a moderate potential for landslides, meaning that landslides could occur under certain conditions, such as above-normal rainfall.

DMC Dompet Dhuafa recorded 28 households or 91 people displaced to relatives’ homes, while 53 households or 158 people were displaced to the Pasir Munjul Village Sports Hall. The affected area of the landslide is estimated to cover 18,757 square meters.
On Thursday (June 18, 2025), Dompet Dhuafa, through its DMC team and West Java branch, distributed assistance in the form of 50 mattresses, 50 blankets, and 20 tarpaulins to the displaced persons.
Additionally, since Sunday (June 15), Dompet Dhuafa has also provided various forms of assistance to affected residents, including setting up a community kitchen to provide daily meals for the displaced residents.
Resda, a member of Dompet Dhuafa’s West Java Humanitarian Team currently on-site, expressed the organization’s commitment to continue supporting the recovery process for the affected communities in a sustainable manner.

“The next action plan is for Dompet Dhuafa West Java (Jabar) to set up Warm Tents for affected residents, conduct assessments for Psychosocial Support Services (PFA), and establish a community kitchen for affected residents and support joint volunteers,” explained Resda, a member of the Dompet Dhuafa Jabar humanitarian team stationed at the location.
