MAKASSAR – Dompet Dhuafa continues to support the Empowerment Mosque Collaboration (KMP) movement to make mosques a solution to poverty alleviation. After rolling precisely a year ago, KMP is expanding its collaboration movement. This time KMP formed a spirit of collaboration in the Sulawesi region. The Sulawesi Regional KMP Forum will occur on the weekend, April 1-2, 2023.
Fifty-five mosque representatives in the Sulawesi region attended the forum initiated by Dompet Dhuafa and the Indonesian Mosque Council. In addition, several figures such as KH Wahfiudin Sakam, Sofyan Djalil, Ustaz Jazir from Jogokariyan Mosque, Rahmad Riyadi from Dompet Dhuafa, Sinansari Ecip, Jamil Azzaini, Eri Sudewo, Adang Wijaya, Ustaz Hantiar, and Ustaz Prastowo M.
“Since the 1970s, the government has carried out empowerment, but poverty has not been alleviated. Some of our society, especially Muslims, are still left behind. So, we try new efforts (poverty alleviation) through mosques. Hopefully, this can be our means of translating zakat more effectively. As an empowering mosque, we from Dompet Dhuafa hope that KMP can be at the forefront in maintaining the character and morals of the younger generation who still lack attention. In addition to fortifying the community’s poverty, we also fortify the moral poverty of the younger generation,” said Rahmad Riyadi, Chairman of the Board of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation, in his speech at the opening of the forum.
In line with Rahmad Riyadi, in his speech, Sofyan Djalil reinforced that all journeys from empowerment start from a mindset. Then he also told the role of the mosque, which had a significant influence on his life—remembering that in his youth Sofyan Djalil had been a mosque marbot, a person responsible for taking care of the needs of the mosque.
“This KMP is part of the Indonesian Council of Mosques which focuses on prospering mosques and prospering mosques. How mosques can benefit their environment. Here many share experiences on how our mosques can become empowering mosques. Hopefully, the Empowering Mosque Collaboration can transmit other traditions and other mindsets. God willing (Insya Alloh), we can fight poverty soon,” said Sofyan Djalil in front of 55 representatives from mosques in the Sulawesi region.
In addition to strengthening the mission and commitment of the Sulawesi regional KMP, the forum is also a requirement with motivation and strengthening. The figures present provided experience and dissected strategies in some sessions. Some mosque leaders have been empowered and prospered to share perspectives and empowerment mosque strengthening programs. Hopefully, with the rolling of the Sulawesi regional KMP, it can become a mosque that never dies with creativity for the prosperity of the mosque and the surrounding environment.
