This award is part of a series of National Working Meetings (Rakernas) held by BWI with the theme “Indonesia’s Waqf Movement: Strengthening the Eight Aspirations Towards a Golden Indonesia.” This theme shows that waqf is not merely a form of religious charity, but an economic instrument that can strengthen national resilience.
According to Kamarudin, BWI’s top priority is to promote the Indonesian Waqf Movement, particularly in the form of cash waqf. Additionally, BWI is focusing on efforts to enhance the productivity of waqf assets, especially idle lands with economic potential beyond their traditional functions such as mosques, cemeteries, and educational institutions. Two main issues were discussed: preserving waqf assets and developing waqf assets, particularly those that are productive.

He emphasized that good waqf management can support the achievement of Indonesia Emas’ grand vision, namely a developed Indonesia that is free from poverty, intelligent, and healthy. He is also very optimistic that waqf will become an instrument to alleviate poverty in Indonesia.
“We are very optimistic that there will be a fundamental transformation in waqf in Indonesia. We are collaborating with all parties in Indonesia to unlock the potential of waqf,” he said.
This award is closely aligned with the productive endowment strategy that Dompet Dhuafa has been developing. Through its endowment programs, Dompet Dhuafa not only manages assets for religious activities but also optimizes them as tools for economic empowerment, education, health, and social development.

Ahmad Juwaini explained that this award serves as an incentive for Dompet Dhuafa to continue innovating in the management of waqf. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the entire community for trusting Dompet Dhuafa as a waqf trustee. Of course, this award would not be possible without the waqf donors, the government, beneficiaries, stakeholders, and the general public.
“In line with BWI’s efforts, Dompet Dhuafa is always committed to making waqf a national movement. We continue to develop productive waqf, enhance professionalism, and utilize digital technology to expand the benefits of waqf for the community, as well as support the vision of Indonesia Emas,” he said.
In line with the theme of the National Coordination Meeting, Dompet Dhuafa believes that waqf can be one of the important pillars in achieving Indonesia Emas. Productive waqf that is well managed can strengthen the economy of the people, create independence, and give birth to programs that have a broad impact. In his opening remarks at the Rakornas, Kamaruddin even mentioned that Achmad Wardi Hospital in Serang, managed by Dompet Dhuafa, serves as a good example of productive endowment management.
Additionally, Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar stated in his speech that how poor we as Muslims would be if we only fulfill zakat as a financial obligation. Meanwhile, there are so many other financial obligations, including endowments. He is confident that one day waqf will become a source of Islamic finance in Indonesia that is greater than zakat.
“We believe that these waqf warriors will continue to develop waqf management well, in line with the tagline of the 2025 BWI National Coordination Meeting and the ideals of Indonesia Emas,” he said.
This award serves as a reminder and motivation for Dompet Dhuafa to continue improving the quality of wakaf management. Through collaboration with the community, government, and wakaf stakeholders, Dompet Dhuafa will continue to strengthen the wakaf movement as a sustainable economic force for the Muslim community.
