Dompet Dhuafa’s Warm Post Helps Survivors of Mount Semeru Eruption

LUMAJANG, EAST JAVA —-— Survivors of the Semeru eruption in Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang, East Java, visited the Dompet Dhuafa Warm Post service on Friday (11/21/2025). Through the Warm Post service, Dompet Dhuafa, through its East Java (Jatim) Branch and Disaster Management Center (DMC), helped meet their basic needs during the emergency.

The Warm Post was established on Thursday (11/20) at the safe point of SDN Supiturang 4, which became the main evacuation point. At this location, the team provided food and light refreshments for survivors and volunteers.

“Seeing the condition of the location and the evacuation site, we are trying to meet urgent basic needs, especially at the evacuation post in Supiturang Village,” said Agus Triabudi Waloyo, Disaster Response Coordinator for Dompet Dhuafa East Java.

The Warm Post service helped 600 beneficiaries around Supiturang Village who were affected by the eruption of Semeru.

Agus explained that since the beginning of the response, the team has focused on distributing basic necessities through Pos Hangat while also conducting direct monitoring at several points, starting from Supiturang Village, Kamar A Hamlet, Sumbersari, to Gumuk Mas, to identify areas affected by the eruption.

In the field, the team faced a number of challenges, including logistical limitations and the condition of residents’ settlements which were covered in eruption material.

Dompet Dhuafa hopes that collaboration between communities and various parties can continue to strengthen the residents’ recovery efforts.
