JAKARTA — Filled with insights into the management of empowerment programs sourced from zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (Ziswaf), 40 students and teachers from Azhari Islamic School Jakarta visited the Dompet Dhuafa office in Jati Padang, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (9/10/2025) morning. Their strong curiosity about Ziswaf management and its related empowerment programs led them to visit Dompet Dhuafa.
The Azhari Islamic School group was welcomed directly by Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin, General Manager of Resources Mobilization at Dompet Dhuafa. Before delivering his presentation, Faqih opened the visit by the Azhari junior high school students with a quiz about Ziswaf and Dompet Dhuafa. This was done to provide a foundation for the Azhari junior high school students to receive the presentation material.

“Thank you to Dompet Dhuafa for this opportunity today. This moment will certainly be a new experience for the children, one that they may not have had at school or elsewhere. Today, the children can learn firsthand about Ziswaf and its management from the Dompet Dhuafa team,” said Siti Mahbubah, a teacher at Azhari Islamic School who accompanied the visit.
Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin presented the management of ZISWAF and empowerment programs in a light and interactive manner. He systematically presented information ranging from collection to management of empowerment programs. This certainly sparked the curiosity of the students in attendance. This was evident from the dozens of students who took turns asking questions.

The first question came from Unaisah, an 8th grade student at Azhari Islamic School. She asked how Dompet Dhuafa maintains the trust of donors and sponsors involved in charitable work at Dompet Dhuafa. It was an interesting question from Generation Alpha regarding the management of Ziswaf.
Responding to Unaisah’s question, Ahmad Faqih explained, “We take good care of our donors. Because they have supported various Dompet Dhuafa empowerment programs, we take various steps. For example, we maintain good relations by providing accurate reports and bringing examples of empowerment products as well as sharing stories of beneficiaries who have begun to empower themselves through the donations of the community. Then we also invite donors to care visits or program visits to Dompet Dhuafa empowerment areas.”

In the next moment, Hafsa, another student participant, also asked a question. Hafsa asked about the biggest challenges faced by Dompet Dhuafa. Ahmad Faqih then explained several points that pose challenges.
First, the main challenge is maintaining public trust. Second, the challenge of continuing to adapt to the patterns of people’s lives. This is similar to the challenges during and after the pandemic, as it changes people’s lifestyles. Third, the challenge of generational shift, namely Gen Z and now Gen Alpha.
Furthermore, Ahmad Faqih also revealed the challenges of the digital era, which require Dompet Dhuafa to adapt more quickly. However, despite all these challenges, at the end of the session, Ahmad Faqih emphasized that the most important thing for Dompet Dhuafa is to continue to uphold its mandate. (Dompet Dhuafa)
