Floods Hit Greater Jakarta, Dompet Dhuafa Deploys Teams to Several Locations

Tim DMC Dompet Dhuafa melakukan asesmen dan evakuasi.

JAKARTA – The Greater Jakarta Area was again hit by floods due to heavy rain that had been pouring since Monday (03/03/2025) night. A number of areas were affected, including South Jakarta, East Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. In fact, extreme weather and heavy rain had earlier hit Bogor Regency since Sunday (03/02/2025) night, resulting in flash floods that hit Cisarua District. In response to this disaster, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa immediately moved to distribute aid and evacuate the affected residents.

Erma Yulihastin, a researcher at the Climate and Atmospheric Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), has warned of potential flooding through her X account. She explained that the moderate to heavy rain that had occurred from Monday afternoon until dawn was caused by the convection effect spreading from Lampung. This increase in rainfall was also influenced by the growth of vortex seeds in the Indian Ocean.

East Jakarta even recorded rainfall of up to 200 mm during the first ten days of March and is predicted to increase to 300 mm in the first ten days of April.
