SOUTH TANGERANG — On the morning of Monday (6/11/2023), Al Syukro Universal Islamic School students came together in a show of kindness and solidarity for Palestine. Students from kindergarten to high school levels contributed a humanitarian fund totaling IDR 65,151,000 (Indonesian Rupiah) for Palestine through Dompet Dhuafa.
Representatives from Al Syukro Universal Islamic High School’s student council, led by Aurelio Yose Rizal, and delegates from the elementary and junior high levels handed over the funds to the Dompet Dhuafa Team.
“Regarding the donation given, I, representing my friends, completely agree and fully support the collection of donations to help our brothers and sisters in Gaza. We contributed as much as we could,” said Yose.

“As brothers in faith, our compassion compels us to help. We hope this donation can alleviate their needs there,” he added.
Al Syukro Universal Islamic School was founded in 2000 by the Daar Asykaril Ibad Endowment Foundation (YA WADAI). In 2010, the school, located on 2.75 hectares of endowment land, was entrusted to the stewardship of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation, continuing to serve as a productive endowment.
Through the Palestine Solidarity Action Program, Al Syukro organized a week-long event aimed at raising awareness and concern for the people of Gaza, as well as manifesting Al Syukro’s support for Palestine. The solidarity action included various activities such as screening videos about Palestine’s history, educating about the situation there, and creating handprints as a form of support.

“Today, we are donating the funds collected from the students’ pocket money. We have 1,509 students, and we organized a series of activities for about a week where the children learned about the history of Palestine. They viewed child-friendly presentations on the situation in Palestine, including information on Israel’s role. They also made handprints as a form of solidarity action support for Palestine, totaling over 1,000 handprints,” said Cicih Kurniasih, Director of Al Syukro Universal Islamic School.
Similarly, Yudha Andilla, the Retail Fundraising Manager of Dompet Dhuafa, expressed gratitude for the collaboration between Al Syukro Universal Islamic School and Dompet Dhuafa. He also emphasized that Dompet Dhuafa will continue to support the community in Gaza, hoping to alleviate their burdens.
“This initiative is also a way of engaging in jihad, understood here as a struggle in solidarity with our Muslim brothers, supported by prayers and financial contributions. We are very grateful to the students and teachers who have entrusted and believed in us to channel this goodness program for our friends in Palestine. May the results of your good deeds bring blessings,” added Yudha.

Furthermore, Cicih revealed that the school aims to instill good values in the children, teaching them to care for the less fortunate.
“We aim to instill the values of empathy and care, characteristic of our Muslim faith, so children become aware of and understand the plight of their fellow Muslims. We want to apply the preamble of the Constitution that freedom is the right of all nations and that colonization must be abolished to form a caring personality in the children. We explain that the conditions of children there are not as fortunate as ours,” continued Cicih. (Dompet Dhuafa/Anndini)
