Hundreds of Fidyah Packages Reach the Elderly and Orphans

EAST NUSA TENGGARA — Dompet Dhuafa successfully distributed 951 fidyah packages in the form of food packages to orphans, the elderly, and the poor in various regions in Indonesia on Thursday (11/14/2024). Among them include East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), East Java, and Riau Islands. The food packages consisting of rice, boxed rice, and drinks have successfully reached the people in need.

The distribution of these food packages is part of the fidyah program that aims to help those who are less fortunate. Hasairi Arnas, Dompet Dhuafa’s Digital Fundraising Team, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to distribute this assistance.

“We hope that this assistance can provide the greatest benefit to our brothers and sisters in need,” said Arnas, when distributing hundreds of food packages in Kupang Regency, NTT.

In East Nusa Tenggara, 317 packages have been distributed in various locations, such as Kupang City, Kupang Regency, and South Central Timor. Happiness radiated from the faces of the beneficiaries, one of whom was Sri Wahyuni (77), an elderly who lives alone. She expressed her gratitude for the food aid she received. Her frail condition has made her unable to do many things. Not to mention that she recently experienced an illness due to a fall.

“Thank you for the help,” she said briefly.

Apart from NTT, the distribution was also carried out in the Riau Islands, with the main focus at Punggur TPS, Batam City. Meanwhile, in East Java, food packages were distributed to people in various villages in Surabaya.

The distribution mechanism was carried out in two ways. First, by gathering beneficiaries who are still able to go to the distribution location. Meanwhile, for those who are unable, the Dompet Dhuafa team directly delivers the fidyah to the beneficiary’s house. (Dompet Dhuafa)
