JAKARTA – On the second day of the Jakarta Humanity Festival (Jakhumfest) 2023 at the Jakarta Philatelic Building, Pos Bloc, Central Jakarta, Dompet Dhuafa also presented various workshops from several communities. One of the collaborating communities is Ngakarya, a painting or mural community in Jakarta.

Through the mural, Ngakarya invites visitors to spread the spirit of inclusivity, where everyone can unite in painting activities, regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, or specific limitations. In this workshop, Ngakarya has provided three medium-sized canvases drawn; visitors can color the images according to their respective expressions.

However, visitors can not only do coloring but also add their images because the image concept is a doodle. Through this concept, Ngakarya also wants to convey that anyone can jointly contribute to caring for good. This concept is the big theme of Ngakarya in Jakhumfest 2023, Caring for the Collective Good.

“If this is thematic, we take care of the collective good; yesterday, we got the concept from Dompet Dhuafa, and we also got the concept of this festival. Finally, we found the concept, and we took the words that were okay, namely, “Caring for the Collective good,” explained Ilyas, one of the artists from Ngakarya.

“We made this work a doodle model, so other friends (visitors) can fill it with colors, can help add pictures of all kinds so that anyone can add it with their creativity,” he added.

The visitors at the Ngakarya booth shared about Caring for the Collective Good.

In addition to being able to paint together with other visitors, Ilyas said that Ngakarya also invites visitors to share or share about how all of us, especially the younger generation, can take care of the good collectively in this era.

“In this theme, we also write on canvas so they can interact with this work. They can respond with, “what do they think is the way to be able to take care of the good collectively together?”

Meanwhile, Wahyu as a visitor to the Ngakarya workshop, admitted that he was happy with the mural activity. He also enjoyed Jakhumfest 2023, which presents many activities that spark the visitors’ creativity.

“The overall event is good because there are many activities, not just one. So, it’s entertaining,” Wahyu said softly.

“It’s refreshing for me because I used to study fine arts and often murmured, so it’s nice today to be able to do it again, especially with new friends; it’s fascinating that I enjoy this event,” he continued.

In the future, Wahyu also hopes that the Jakhumfest 2023 event will continue to be held yearly. Because according to him, this activity has a very impact, especially for young people. This activity makes them more aware of the surrounding environment and their neighbors.

“Hopefully, a good event like this will continue to be continued because it suits the interests of friends of my age in their early twenties or Gen Z, especially since the theme raised is also unusual, namely about humanity and inclusivity, so we can be more literate and even contribute to the surrounding conditions,” concluded Wahyu.  (Dompet Dhuafa/Ronna)
