Kidnapped by Zionists: Our Hopes for Ronggo and Ust. Herman from Dompet Dhuafa

JAKARTA —-— Dompet Dhuafa, several other humanitarian organizations, and a number of media outlets are filled with concern and anxiety. This is because their colleagues participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian voyage—coordinated by the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI)—were seized by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in international waters.

The ship carrying Dompet Dhuafa representatives in the GPCI, Ronggo Wirasanu and Herman Budianto, was intercepted by Zionist soldiers on Tuesday (May 19, 2026). Tears, worry, and anxiety were evident on the faces of Dompet Dhuafa staff, and certainly also on the faces of the volunteers’ families who were faithfully waiting at home.

“To this day, we are still waiting for news of their safety. In my opinion, no one deserves to be treated this way while carrying out a humanitarian mission,” explained Dedi Fadlil, Coordinator of Dompet Dhuafa TV, who is a colleague of Ronggo Wirasanu in the same department.

Another team from Dompet Dhuafa TV also condemned the brutality of the Zionist army.

“This is cruel; our friends were sailing for humanitarian reasons, for our brothers and sisters in Palestine. Yet out on the open sea, they were intercepted and kidnapped,” stated Fitin, one of Ronggo’s colleagues at DDTV.

Echoing Fitin’s sentiments, Siti Lutfillah also urged the Zionists to immediately release the Indonesian volunteers they have kidnapped. Specifically, the Dompet Dhuafa team members: Herman Budianto and Ronggo Wirasanu.

“How arduous their struggle has been for this humanitarian mission. They set sail only to end up as victims of a Zionist kidnapping. May Allah the Almighty always protect Mr. Herman and Ronggo,” said Lutfi, a Dompet Dhuafa staff member who previously served on the cultural program development team under Herman Budianto’s coordination.

Many hopes are being expressed by the Dompet Dhuafa community for the safety of the Indonesian volunteers who have been kidnapped by the Israeli Zionists. One such hope was voiced by Bani Kiswanto, who is close to Ronggo and Herman, having interacted with them during a sports program within the Dompet Dhuafa family.

“Hopefully, in the coming days, there will be good news regarding the kidnapping of the Indonesian volunteers on the Global Sumud Flotilla voyage. We hope the government acts swiftly to free our friends who have been kidnapped by the Zionists. I see that humanitarian organizations have already knocked on the doors of the government and the legislature. Hopefully, the government will respond immediately and our friends can return to Indonesia safe and sound,” Bani hoped.

In addition to Ronggo and Herman, who set sail for a humanitarian mission by sea, Dompet Dhuafa also sent a team for a humanitarian mission via land. There is Imam Al Faruq, who is currently fighting on the front lines of the Land Convoy alongside other volunteers from various countries. May Allah SWT always grant protection to the Dompet Dhuafa team currently carrying out this humanitarian mission for Palestine. (Dompet Dhuafa)
