BANTUL —-— Everyone would be happy to see their loved ones happy. A wife would be very happy when her husband is always by her side. A child would be very happy when their parents can continue to be active as they were when they were young. The COVID-19 pandemic that has affected everyone on earth has left Darini (56) grieving and resigned to her situation.
Living in Imogiri Village, Imogiri District, Bantul Regency, she is now a widow after her husband passed away due to COVID-19, which came suddenly. Not only that, Darini also has to take care of her elderly mother, who can only lie in bed.
“My mother can’t do anything anymore. She’s too frail. She can only lie in bed,” Darini said.

Darini used to be a vegetable seller before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Then her mother fell ill, followed by her husband. At that time, Darini decided to stop trading. Not long after, her husband tested positive for COVID-19 and passed away. Even so, she is still grateful that her mother survived the threat of COVID-19. To this day, Darini has no job other than caring for her mother.
Sarini recounted that her husband used to work as a construction laborer. She also stated emphatically that her husband had no prior health issues. Then, he suddenly tested positive for COVID-19 and died shortly after because the hospitals were full.

“He was treated at home for two days because the hospital was full. Then he passed away,” he said sadly as he reminisced.
In recognition of her resilience, on Wednesday (March 23, 2022) at her home, Dompet Dhuafa presented her with a gift in the form of a food package as a token of appreciation for her strength as a resilient family member. Through this act of kindness, Dompet Dhuafa and the donors hope that Darini will remain strong and eventually be able to recover with an improved family economic situation.
