BOGOR —-— With Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH just days away, that Wednesday afternoon (March 18, 2026) along Jalan Raya Puncak, the streets were bustling with the constant honking of cars and motorcycles. Some people appeared to be leaving the usually crowded area to return to their hometowns. Others were heading out to buy takjil for breaking the fast. There were also those who wanted to spread the spirit of sharing, such as two individuals with noble intentions, Hamidah Rachmayanti and Irfan Farhad, who were about to carry out Dompet Dhuafa’s Tebar Zakat Fitrah (TZF) program in their hometown.
Specifically in Kampung Seuseupan, Ciawi, Bogor, 100 packages of rice were distributed to beneficiaries who fall under the eight categories eligible for Zakat Fitrah. Hamidah and Farhad knocked on the doors of the beneficiaries one by one.

It was as if they were seeing someone they hadn’t seen in a long time—that was the reaction of most people who saw Hamidah, and the warm, beautiful atmosphere of reunion was palpable. Some were also surprised to find that it was Hamidah standing behind the door of her house.
And why wouldn’t they be? This was the village where she had grown up since childhood. So, walking once again along the narrow alleys was like a trip down memory lane for Hamidah.

“Praise be to God, today we’re distributing 100 packages of Zakat al-Fitr rice from friends who have donated through Dompet Dhuafa. Praise be to God, today we’re distributing them in Hamidah’s village, so there are many families, neighbors, and friends here—and praise be to God, we’re able to provide for those in need,” said Farhad, her husband.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s nostalgic too; it’s like meeting the women who might have known me when I was little, since it’s been so long since I’ve been here,” replied Hamidah.

Furthermore, Hamidah also described how joy radiated as they knocked on the doors of residents’ homes one by one. She and Farhad pushed a small cart loaded with two sacks of rice and delivered them directly to the recipients.
“Actually, what was amazing this afternoon was that we got to experience firsthand knocking on their doors, seeing their lives, and meeting their extended families—especially since this is the time leading up to Eid, when families start gathering. So, we were really happy because we could distribute the zakat al-fitr directly door to door to the recipients, and they were happy to receive it,” Hamidah continued.

In Seuseupan Village itself, the residential area is densely populated. Hamidah and Farhad had to navigate the narrow, uphill alleys multiple times to meet the beneficiaries in person. Most of the residents there meet the criteria for receiving Zakat al-Fitr, such as widows, the needy, and low-income families, ensuring that the Zakat al-Fitr Distribution Program reaches its intended recipients.
“Hopefully, with the assistance received from all of you, insha’Allah, this will become a continuous act of charity, and hopefully, the program will continue and be received by an even larger segment of the community. Barakallah to those who have donated, and this isn’t just in this area—I heard it’s already been distributed at several locations, so insha’Allah the distribution of Zakat Fitrah will be more equitable,” said Hamidah.
One of those feeling this joy is Grandma Heni (70), an elderly woman who now lives with her youngest daughter.
“I have no one to take care of me anymore; I’m living alone with my youngest daughter,” said Heni.

Heni herself is a close neighbor of Hamidah’s, and she was grateful to receive the zakat al-fitr. This is because her only source of income comes from sewing. Sometimes Grandma Heni also makes doormats and bed sheets from scraps of fabric. If a neighbor wants something sewn or simply needs a garment altered, Heni doesn’t charge a set price; she accepts whatever the person is willing to give.
“Oh, I’m so happy, so happy. My grandchild said this earlier, so Grandma doesn’t have to buy rice anymore, right? Usually, I only buy a little rice if I have money,” said Heni.

Heni was grateful when Hamidah and Farhad came to visit her; for her, it was more than just receiving rice—true happiness also came from being able to see her loved ones.
“I accept this charity with joy and a glad heart; only Allah can repay it. When we give to others, it’s like lending, so it is Allah who repays,” Heni concluded.

Heni and thousands of other beneficiaries have already felt the impact—let’s bring joy to those in need during Eid. There’s still time until the 1st of Shawwal; pay your Zakat al-Fitr through ddf.id/zakatfitrah.
