Nusadaya West Java Food Court Officially Opens to Strengthen Zakat-Based MSMEs

WEST JAVA — Dompet Dhuafa continues its efforts to promote economic independence among the community through the inauguration of the Nusadaya West Java Food Court, located in the Bumi Harapan Complex, Cibiru Hilir Village, Cileunyi District, Bandung Regency, on Wednesday (January 21, 2026). This program is the result of a collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Rohani Islam Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (ROIS OJK) as a partner in optimizing the use of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (Ziswaf) funds for community economic empowerment.

The presence of Nusadaya West Java marks the fifth implementation of the Nusadaya program after previously being implemented in the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) East Kalimantan, Lampung, Central Java, and Jakarta. This is one of Dompet Dhuafa’s commitments to continue expanding the benefits of the MSME empowerment program to various regions in Indonesia.

The Nusadaya program is designed as an economic empowerment ecosystem for the community, focusing on strengthening the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Not only does it provide business facilities, but Nusadaya also offers ongoing mentoring, capacity building for business actors, and strengthening of community-based economic institutions rooted in the values of solidarity and mutual cooperation.

Deputy Director II of the Dompet Dhuafa Empowerment Program, Mustika Sri Handayani, said that collaboration with ROIS OJK is an important part of realizing an empowerment program that is not just a temporary aid, but is able to encourage long-term independence.

“Hopefully, the Nusadaya Food Court can become a space for small traders to grow so that they become more empowered, independent, and able to contribute to driving the community’s economy through the Nusadaya ecosystem,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java Branch of Dompet Dhuafa, Yogi Achmad Fajar, explained that the Nusadaya Program in West Java empowers 19 MSME actors as beneficiaries. The business actors receive support in the form of production facilities, business facility improvements, capital assistance, and financial literacy and entrepreneurship assistance for two years. In addition, Dompet Dhuafa also facilitates halal certification so that MSME products have higher competitiveness in the market.

“In addition to building business premises, Dompet Dhuafa is also committed to building human capacity through the Nusadaya program. The hope is that MSME entrepreneurs can move up the ladder and have sustainable businesses,” said Yogi.

The changes were immediately felt by the beneficiaries, one of whom was Asep Hermawan, a trader who had been selling in the area for a long time. Asep said that since 2016, he and his fellow street vendors had been selling with minimal facilities, only a simple canopy.

In 2024, the area began to be developed independently with the help of the local neighborhood association (RT/RW). However, limited capital meant that development was very slow. He even admitted to having debts of around IDR 17 million because he really wanted the place to be more suitable so that his fellow street vendors could sell comfortably and buyers would feel more at home.

The turning point came when they met the Dompet Dhuafa team. Through the Nusadaya Program, the area was designated as a beneficiary location and developed using zakat funds.

“Alhamdulillah, now it has really come true. The place is nice, comfortable, and has decent seating. There are also more visitors because they feel at home,” said Asep gratefully.

Representing ROIS OJK at the inauguration of the Nusadaya Food Court in West Java, the Head of OJK for West Java Province, Darwisman, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and ROIS OJK, which is considered to have a direct impact on the community. According to him, the area, which was previously unproductive, has now been transformed into a more organized, comfortable, and crowded business space. This has also encouraged an increase in turnover for business actors and driven the economy, especially in the village of Cibiru Hilir.

“This program is very inspiring because its benefits are felt directly by the community. ROIS OJK will continue to support collaborations like this so that religious social funds can be managed productively and sustainably,” he said.

The inauguration of the Nusadaya West Java Food Court was attended by various parties, including the Head of Cileunyi Subdistrict, Mr. Cucu Endang; Chair of the West Java Province KDEKS Executive Management, Prof. Diana Sari; West Java Regional Development Agency, representing the Regent, Ir. H Kawaludin; PT Persib Bandung Operations, Dadang Wahda; Head of Cibiru Hilir Village, Dadang Silahudin; Local Police Chief, AKP Anggy Prasetyo; Danrami, Captain Inf Iwan Santoso; as well as the surrounding community.

This momentum serves as an opportunity to strengthen the synergy between Dompet Dhuafa, ROIS OJK, local government, and the community in building public trust in Ziswaf-based economic empowerment programs.

Dompet Dhuafa hopes that in the future, Nusadaya will not only be a center of economic activity, but also a space where hope can grow for MSME players to build a more independent and prosperous future. (Dompet Dhuafa)
