Nuzulul Quran 2025: Self-Reflection in Ramadan

Nuzulul Quran 2025 is a special moment that Muslims around the world look forward to. The event of the Qur’an’s revelation is not only historical, but also a reminder of the guidance of life given by God to humans. In the month of Ramadan, the Qur’an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH as a guide to life for all Muslims in the world. This moment should not only be commemorated, but also used as a time to reflect and improve ourselves. So, what is the history of Nuzulul Quran and how can we take lessons from this event? Let’s discuss it in more depth!

The History of Nuzulul Quran and Its Meaning

Nuzulul Quran is the event when the first revelation was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel. In the Qur’an Surah Al-Baqarah verse 185, Allah says, “The month of Ramadan is the month in which the Qur’an is revealed as a guidance for mankind and an explanation of that guidance and a distinction (between the right and the wrong) ” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 185).

The event of Nuzulul Quran occurred in the Cave of Hira, when the Prophet Muhammad PBUH was meditating, contemplating life. Then later, the angel Gabriel came with the first revelation, namely:

“Recite in the name of your Lord who created. He has created man from a clot of blood. Read, and your Lord is the Most Gracious, who teaches (man) with a pen, teaching man what he did not know.” (QS. Al-‘Alaq: 1-5)

This verse is not only a literal command to read, but also a call to seek knowledge and understand the truth. Reading reality, reading the conditions of society, and the signs of the greatness of the universe. From this, we can see that Islam places science as very important.

When is Nuzulul Quran 2025 Celebrated?

Muslims in Indonesia usually commemorate Nuzulul Quran on the night of Ramadan 17. Although there is no definitive record of the exact date when the Qur’an was revealed, the majority of scholars agree that the first revelation fell on one of the nights of Ramadan. Imam Jalaluddin As-Suyuthi in Al-Itqan fi ‘Ulumil Qur’an states that the Qur’an was revealed gradually over 23 years, starting in Ramadan.

In addition, there is also a view that links the descent of the Qur’an with Lailatul Qadar, a night better than a thousand months. In the Qur’an Al-Qadr verses 1-3, Allah says “Indeed We have revealed it (the Qur’an) on the night of glory (Lailatul Qadar). And do you know what the night of glory is? The night of glory is better than a thousand months.”

Therefore, the commemoration of Nuzulul Quran should not only be a ceremony, but also a time to get closer to Allah and understand the contents of the Qur’an. In Indonesia, Nuzulul Quran 2025 will be celebrated on Monday, March 17, 2025. So don’t miss this moment, Friends.

Self Reflection on the Moment of Nuzulul Quran 2025

Ramadan is a month full of blessings, and the event of Nuzulul Quran 2025 is important to remind us to get closer to the holy book. To what extent have we read, understood and practiced the Qur’an? Many of us may still rarely touch the Mushaf except during Ramadan. In fact, the Qur’an is a guide to life that we should make a guide every day.

One of the best ways to interpret Nuzulul Quran is to increase our interaction with the Qur’an. We don’t have to memorize a large number of verses right away, but we can start by reading one page every day and understanding the tafsir. If we are not fluent in reading, there is nothing wrong with learning slowly.

The Prophet saw. said, “The one who recites the Qur’an and is proficient in reading it, then he will be with the noble angels. But the one who recites the Qur’an with a stammer and finds it difficult will have two rewards.”

(HR. Bukhari No. 4937, Muslim No. 798).

This Hadith shows that it is never too late to start learning to read the Qur’an. In fact, our efforts will receive multiple rewards from Allah SWT. Even if our reading is not yet fluent, we will still get two rewards. That is, when we try to learn to read the Qur’an, the value is much better than nothing.
