UNITED STATES — On the stage of the UN General Assembly on Monday (9/22/2025), the High-Level Conference officially voiced recognition of Palestine and the two-state solution. There was an emotional atmosphere when French President Emmanuel Macron loudly announced his country’s official recognition of Palestine.
As reported by beritasatu.com, this historic decision was made together with Saudi Arabia and was greeted with thunderous applause from the delegates. This step marks an important diplomatic change almost two years after the conflict in Gaza, despite strong opposition from Israel and its ally, the United States. However, even though there is still a long way to go, this recognition is considered to give new momentum to the Palestinian struggle.
“We must pave the way for peace. We must preserve the possibility of a two-state solution, where Israel and Palestine live side by side in peace and security,” Macron stated at the UN, as quoted by Kumparan.com.
Kompas.com also mentioned that the number of countries recognizing Palestine continues to grow. As of Tuesday (9/23/2025), at least 153 of the 193 UN members have declared official recognition. Prior to these five countries, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Portugal also made similar decisions, adding diplomatic pressure on Israel and its allies.

French President Emmanuel Macron called this recognition a moral responsibility.
“The time has come. We have an obligation to preserve the possibility of a two-state solution,” he said, as quoted by Al Jazeera on Tuesday (9/23/2025).
“Today, I declare that France recognizes the State of Palestine,” he continued.
In addition to France, Andorra, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, and Monaco also participated in the joint declaration.
Several heads of state, including Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, stood up to give a standing ovation. This moment was not only recognition from one country, but a growing wave of support from the international community. France’s move follows several other major countries, such as Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Portugal, which have also recognized Palestine as a sovereign state. In his eagerly awaited speech, President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia’s commitment to supporting a two-state solution has never wavered.

With this result, Palestine is recognized as a de facto independent state. Although de jure recognition still depends on the UN Security Council, which is often blocked by the US veto, the General Assembly’s decision reflects the moral voice of the world for a ceasefire and the achievement of a just peace.

Support for Palestine does not stop at the diplomatic table. There is work being done to help civilians in need. Indonesia, through various humanitarian agencies, has been at the forefront of actively distributing aid.

Dompet Dhuafa continues to raise funds through 2.2 MILLION GAZA RESIDENTS ARE STARVING, LET’S HELP THEM IMMEDIATELY! and distribute humanitarian aid to Palestine. Here is a summary of the latest aid that has been distributed:
- Health Services: Dompet Dhuafa has built emergency medical posts or medical points at several locations, including a hemodialysis clinic in North Gaza. They also provide mobile clinic services that are very helpful for refugees in camps such as Camp Sukna in Jordan. These services are urgently needed due to difficult access to medical care and high costs, and the health team often encounters complaints such as upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), chronic diseases, and skin disorders due to poor sanitation.
- Medical Procurement: In addition to direct services, Dompet Dhuafa also distributes aid in the form of medical equipment and facilities, including ambulances. Several Dompet Dhuafa ambulance units are reportedly still actively evacuating victims in Gaza.
- Logistical Assistance: Assistance also includes basic necessities such as ready-to-eat meals, staple foods, clean water, winter clothing, and medicines. This aid is distributed through collaboration with the Indonesian government and local partners in Palestine.
Dompet Dhuafa has not stood idly by since the beginning of the conflict. Most recently, Dompet Dhuafa sent a special team in early September 2025 and distributed aid in the form of food, medicine, and other basic necessities to Gaza survivors in Jordan. This involvement is not merely a social action, but a manifestation of humanitarian solidarity and, of course, the mandate of the Indonesian people’s concern. (Dompet Dhuafa)
