Protect Indonesia Through Scholarships

JAKARTA — Dompet Dhuafa participated in the Indonesian People’s Scholarship Festival (Pesta Beasiswa Merah Putih) initiated by the Indonesian Scholarship Forum. As part of the Indonesian Million Scholarships Movement, this collaboration provided a million opportunities for a million Indonesian children. The event was held online via Zoom Meeting on Saturday (September 8, 2025).

The Indonesian Scholarship Forum held a Press Conference and Motivational Session as part of the lead-up to the Indonesian People’s Scholarship Festival. The Indonesian Scholarship Forum is a collaborative platform that brings together scholarship providers, distributors, and advocates both domestically and internationally to expand access to education and build a superior human resource base to achieve Indonesia Emas 2045.

In line with the government’s commitment, Dompet Dhuafa, as an Islamic philanthropic institution, is involved in providing educational scholarships for children who have limited access to continue their education to a higher level.

Through its education pillar, Dompet Dhuafa continues to provide various educational models that produce superior human resources. Every year, more than 300 Indonesian children receive scholarships from Dompet Dhuafa, ranging from high school to university level, through various programs such as Beastudi Indonesia Great Edunesia Dompet Dhuafa.

At the Indonesian People’s Scholarship Festival, Dompet Dhuafa participated as an exhibitor alongside 100 other scholarship institutions. In addition, it was one of the speakers at a discussion forum on the grand design of scholarships with scholarship institutions representing corporations, philanthropic organizations, and embassies. This event will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Tzu Chi Building, Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation Indonesia. Dompet Dhuafa also sent scholarship awardees, students and teachers from the Dompet Dhuafa school network, students and lecturers from STIM Budi Bakti to enliven the event on the 20th and later at the peak event in October,” said Rina Fatimah.

In carrying out its mission, Dompet Dhuafa is present in a scholarship-based education support program, namely Beastudi Indonesia Great Edunesia Dompet Dhuafa, which consists of 5 Beastudi Programs, namely Beasiswa Youth Ekselensia Scholarship (YES), Beastudi Etos Improvement and Development (Etos ID), Beasiswa Aktivis Nusantara (BAKTI NUSA), Beasiswa Kuliah Tak Gentar (KTG), and Beasiswa Zakat Indonesia in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The Beastudi Indonesia program focuses on coaching, mentoring, and empowerment to strengthen the character, professionalism, and transformative leadership of scholarship recipients. This movement needs to be supported so that more parties are involved and participate in realizing the dreams of Indonesian children.

The Indonesian Scholarship Forum emphasizes that scholarships are not merely financial aid for education but strategic tools to cultivate the next generation of national leaders. Through an inclusive and sustainable scholarship ecosystem, children with potential but limited economic means can grow into agents of change.

The government, through the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, has also affirmed its full support for this initiative.

“Cross-sector collaboration through the scholarship ecosystem is in line with the national development agenda. Scholarships are a long-term investment for the realization of superior human resources towards Indonesia Emas 2045,” said Katiman Kartowinomo, Assistant Deputy for Research, Technology and Industrial Partnerships, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Achmad Aditya, Special Staff to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for Education, emphasized that this collaboration could be a platform for a strategy to improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia.

“In my opinion, the implementation of this Scholarship Forum is very important because it is in line with priority programs related to improving the quality of human resources. This will create a new synergy between various scholarship management institutions so that they can complement each other, and this will be a great place to discuss scholarship strategies and improving the quality of human resources as a whole,” said Achmad Aditya.

The Indonesian People’s Forum, which was originally scheduled for September 6-7, 2025, has been rescheduled in response to the dynamics following recent demonstrations. This was also announced by Rina Fatimah, Chair of the Indonesian Scholarship Forum.

In addition, the series of activities is now divided into several main agendas, such as Free Online Classes, the Grand Design Scholarship Discussion Forum, and the Indonesian Scholarship Network Seminar (Matchmaking & Scholarship Institution Socialization), with the highlight being the Indonesian People’s Scholarship Party, featuring the main agenda of the 100 Scholarship Institutions Exhibition and the Indonesia Scholarship Award 2.0 event as a platform to honor scholarship institutions and advocates in Indonesia. The implementation time will be adjusted to the conditions with the plan set for early October 2025. (Dompet Dhuafa)
