JAKARTA – IBS Al-Ikhlas handed over a donation of Braille Qur’ans to Dompet Dhuafa on Friday (3/28/2024). A donation worth Rp. 12 million was collected from IBS Al-Ikhlas students who set aside part of their pocket money. The donation that was handed over is a form of concern from students and teachers for friends with special needs.
This fundraising activity was also filled with several series of events, such as Tarhib Ramadan, cheerful fairy tales, Ramadan motivation, crash courses, and the final series of symbolic handover of donations to disabled friends of Dompet Dhuafa. This activity of kindness aims to teach students to compete in goodness in the month of Ramadan.
According to Saidi Ahmad, Director of IBS Al-Ikhlas, the Ramadan activity, which is filled with fundraising, aims to increase students’ awareness of sharing in this blessed month. Moreover, it fulfills the need to care for our brothers and sisters with special needs who still want to learn the Qur’an. Seeing the lack of empathy in society towards disabled friends, the school continues to strive to help and meet their needs.
“Children have been familiar with the Qur’an easily since childhood, but not necessarily with our disabled friends. I personally feel ashamed that they are the only ones who have a lack of enthusiasm for learning the Qur’an, while those of us who are healthy and, so to speak, lack nothing are still lazy about reading the Qur’an. Therefore, we are very motivated to care and want to join hands with them to keep them enthusiastic about living their lives. Because we and they are actually the same and still need each other,” he said.

The Ramadan activity, which carries the slogan “sharing with others,” received a positive response from teachers and students. This is not the first time that sharing activities have been held in the month of Ramadan. IBS Al-Ikhlas and Dompet Dhuafa have been working together for several years. In addition, Dompet Dhuafa gives a very high appreciation to the school for its dedication in helping friends in need.
In addition, at the end of Ramadan, Dompet Dhuafa and blind friends from ESQ Kemanusiaan Kembangan had the opportunity to visit the IBS Al-Ikhlas school to introduce the Al-Qur’an Braille that they use to read and memorize. The students also had the opportunity to see and hear firsthand friends from the Yayasan Tunanetra reading the Al-Qur’an Braille.
Yudha Andilla, Manager of Retail Fundraising at Dompet Dhuafa, also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation that has been established with IBS Al-Ikhlas in recent years.
“On behalf of Dompet Dhuafa, I personally would like to thank the students from kindergarten to junior high at IBS Al-Ikhlas who have been willing to set aside their pocket money to share. Hopefully, our kindness does not stop here. I hope that you are also more aware of your surroundings and have empathy for those in need,” he said. (Dompet Dhuafa)
