JAKARTA -– Not only in remote areas of Indonesia, Dompet Dhuafa’s Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) program is once again present to deliver the trust of those who have sacrificed animals for Eid al-Adha to overseas destinations. This initiative also reflects the compassion of the Indonesian people toward the current conditions in countries still affected by humanitarian crises, natural disasters, and extreme social inequality.
During Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri, Dompet Dhuafa distributed sacrificial animals to Somalia, Myanmar, and Palestine, of course. Naturally, the distribution of sacrificial animals must be tailored to the characteristics of each country.
Somalia
Extreme poverty and starvation still plaguing Somalia have inspired Dompet Dhuafa to encourage the Indonesian public to contribute meaningfully through THK. Humanity is about how people connect with one another when they see their brothers and sisters in need. Solidarity strengthens, and the impact on beneficiaries expands.
In its third year of distributing sacrificial animals in Somalia, Dompet Dhuafa distributed 231 cows and 392 sheep to beneficiaries in Somalia this year. The slaughtering of the sacrificial animals took place at two locations: Garasbaley District and the outskirts of Mogadishu, Somalia.

In addition to fulfilling religious obligations, it is hoped that these Somali sacrifices will contribute economically and socially to communities facing humanitarian crises there.

Myanmar
Myanmar is also one of the locations for this year’s Dompet Dhuafa sacrifice distribution. Considering that Myanmar was recently hit by a major earthquake on March 28. In addition to sending humanitarian aid, Dompet Dhuafa is also showing solidarity to help the people of Myanmar recover from the crisis through THK.
Syamsul Ardiansyah, Senior Officer of Strategic Alliance at Dompet Dhuafa, stated that the slaughtering took place in Sittwe, Rakhine State, Myanmar. A total of five cows were successfully distributed to the beneficiaries there.

Palestine
Palestine, which is still ravaged by war, continues Syamsul, has its own distribution strategy. Unlike other overseas qurbani distributions, qurbani in Palestine takes the form of canned meat consisting of pure meat (corned) and meat + ingredients. This strategy was chosen so that the beneficiaries have a longer supply of ready-to-eat meat.
The canned meat is distributed to beneficiaries in Gaza and refugee camps for Gazans in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt.

“For Gaza, we are aware of the ongoing war and blockade, so it is best that the sacrificial animals be sent in cans. The buffaloes will be slaughtered in India,” explained Syamsul.
In addition to canned meat, sacrificial animals are also distributed in the form of frozen meat to refugee camps located outside Palestine. This option was chosen to ensure that sacrificial meat is distributed more quickly, as it does not require further processing like canned meat.

Alhamdulillah, THK Dompet Dhuafa has successfully collected 231 buffaloes to be distributed as frozen meat and 108 buffaloes to be processed into canned meat.
Thank you to all the sacrificial donors who have contributed to providing sacrificial meat for those in need in other parts of the world. Your sacrifice is an act of kindness that reaches the world. (Dompet Dhuafa)
