JAKARTA -— “Finding even a single meal is impossible,” said Ahmad Al-Najjar, a victim of Israeli attacks who survived in Gaza City in early May 2025, to Al-Jazeera.
Israel has blocked all humanitarian aid from entering Gaza since March 2, 2025. Aid, including food, medicine, and other supplies, has been piling up at the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip in large numbers of trucks.
The consequences are being felt by 2.4 million civilians. One of the impacts is that 177 soup kitchens have reportedly run out of food supplies.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) – a system for classifying food insecurity and malnutrition – has issued a “Emergency” status to describe the famine situation in Gaza. This status ranks second on a scale of five phases.
Three-quarters of Palestinians are experiencing hunger. The IPC has identified several provinces facing extremely severe levels of hunger in certain areas. The five phases are: (1) None, (2) Stress, (3) Crisis, (4) Emergency, and (5) Disaster; among others:
- 30% of northern Gaza is facing extremely severe food insecurity or disaster levels, 60% is facing emergency levels, while 10% is facing crisis levels.
- 25% of Rafah is facing extremely severe food insecurity, 60% is facing emergency levels, and 15% is facing crisis levels.
According to the IPC report, this figure is four times higher than any other region experiencing famine worldwide.
“That’s only 10% of Gaza’s daily needs,” Lazzarini emphasized.

In addition to political will, strong solidarity is needed to jointly address the current famine in Gaza. Various efforts are being made by humanitarian organizations around the world to continue distributing aid.
Dompet Dhuafa is one of them. Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1446 H, Dompet Dhuafa initiated the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) program for Palestine.
Every year, THK is held with the aim of distributing sacrificial meat to those in need.
According to the Chair of Dompet Dhuafa’s THK 2025, Dwi Tanty Kurnianingtyas, sacrificial animals for Palestine require a more strategic and effective mechanism. This is because the conditions in Gaza are very complicated.
This involves distributing sacrificial meat in the form of frozen meat and canned corned beef. Although the process is lengthy, this method ensures the meat remains fresh in the uncertain conditions currently prevailing in Gaza.

In addition, there will be several live sacrificial animals, specifically cows, that will be slaughtered in the West Bank or the city of Al-Quds, Palestine. The distribution will consist of fresh meat. For the sacrifices in the West Bank itself, Dompet Dhuafa will collaborate with local volunteers for the distribution.
“The sacrificial meat will be distributed in the form of frozen meat and canned meat, with the slaughtering taking place in India and Egypt. The frozen meat and canned meat will be distributed to Palestinian refugee camps in Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan,” explained Tanty.

There are always many options for showing solidarity in kindness. For those of you who wish to make a sacrifice for the Palestinian people, you can start with the following prices:
