JAKARTA — For over a month, precisely in Ramadan 1444 H / 2023 A.D., as many as 24 Dai Ambassadors of Dompet Dhuafa spread to 12 countries to carry out Islamic da’wah missions. Upon returning to the country, the Dompet Dhuafa Da’wah Service Department gathered all Islamic preachers (Dai) in a program evaluation forum.
On May 17-18, 2023, at Amaris La Codefin Hotel, Kemang, South Jakarta, Dompet Dhuafa held a Dai Ambassador 2023 Workshop and Evaluation with the theme “Next Dakwah Dompet Dhuafa.” This agenda is also a form of Forgiveness Day on Eid al-Fitr 1444 H / 2023 M for all preachers of Dompet Dhuafa.
On that occasion, Ahmad Pranggono, the SO of Dompet Dhuafa Da’wah Service, said that the Dai Ambassador Program has been running for ten years. Until now, the program is still running and growing. According to him, this is influenced by three factors of Dompet Dhuafa’s da’wah mission: Islamic da’wah, Indonesian wathoniyah da’wah, and ziswaf da’wah.

“These three things are packaged in a preacher Ambassador Program. In its implementation, they conduct the preach, workshops, and approaches to Islamic philanthropy. Then also open services for consultation, both individuals and families, “he said.
The Preacher (Dai) Ambassador 2023 program, which involves 24 preachers (dai) in 12 countries, has produced a series of challenges. One of them, the preachers, managed to embrace pilgrims with a total of 16,215 pilgrims. The distribution of preacher (Dai) Ambassador congregations includes 2,896 in Australia, 600 in Thailand, 1,680 in the Philippines, 846 in Malaysia, 871 in Hong Kong, 3,280 in Japan, 846 in Malaysia, 1,515 in New Zealand, 178 in New Caledonia, 892 in France, 700 in the Netherlands, 949 in Timor Leste, and 1,718 in Suriname.
With this evaluation, Dompet Dhuafa will summarize the results into a recommendation to improve the follow-up program. Later, the Dompet Dhuafa Da’wah Service will organize da’wah programs outside Ramadan through the Mengaji Learning Center (PBM) program or international online courses.
“This will be a continuation of the results of this review and evaluation,” Ahmad said.
On the sidelines of the event, Dompet Dhuafa gave awards to the preachers who were most active in writing their da’wah journey while in the country of assignment. The writings have also been published on www.dompetdhuafa.org/kabar website.
Herman Budianto, G.M. of the Department of Da’wah, Culture & Environment of Dompet Dhuafa, also said that the Preacher (Dai) Ambassador Program is a strategy of Dompet Dhuafa to develop Islamic da’wah in the international arena, as well as a strategy to attract Indonesian citizens abroad to have good contact with Islam.

“This umpteenth generation of the nation’s children abroad increasingly clashes with various foreign cultures. So, we need to withdraw it with Islamic da’wah,” he said.
Herman then explained that this program’s future challenge is in the era of disruption, where the da’wah strategy must continue to be improved and updated due to technological sophistication being more advanced.
