SEAHUM and DMC Dompet Dhuafa Improve the Quality of Humanitarian Programs

SOUTH TANGERANG —-— On Thursday (05/19/2022), the Southeast Asia Humanitarian (SEAHUM) Committee and Dompet Dhuafa’s Disaster Management Center (DMC) held a Capacity Building training for humanitarian activists in Indonesia.

The training, titled “Project Management for Development Professionals,” targeted non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and philanthropic institutions in Indonesia. The training was held over two days, from Sunday (May 15) to Monday (May 16), at the DMC Dompet Dhuafa headquarters in South Tangerang, Banten.

Together with Khalid Kamil as Managing Director of Philandure and Sulfan Zayd as Business Development Executive of Philandure, the training proceeded solemnly.

“Here we learn about project cycle management, what a program is and how it is implemented properly. The benefit of this training for NGOs is that donors or stakeholders who partner with us will feel more secure and at ease,” explained Khalid.

“Because they are giving funds to NGOs that are strong and resilient. So our hope from this two-day training is that it will make the organization stronger and better,” added Khalid.

One of the participants, Dewi Maryam, Manager of the Social Trust Fund Business Unit at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, said that this training was very useful in improving the formulation of humanitarian programs to be developed.

“From what we have learned about how to develop a program that is long-term or sustainable, we can be more professional and achieve our goals accurately. We can provide great benefits to many people,” explained Dewi.

Haryo Mojopahit, Chief Executive of DMC Dompet Dhuafa, said that this training has greatly influenced the mindset of humanitarian activists to become more professional. Therefore, through the SEAHUM Committee and DMC Dompet Dhuafa, similar training can also be intensified in the future in different places and with different participants.

“We want to strengthen local humanitarian activists in Indonesia. This training also aims to improve the accountability and quality of humanitarian programs in Indonesia. With this, the assistance provided will have a greater impact and will target beneficiaries accurately,” said Haryo. (Dompet Dhuafa / DMC)
