DILI, TIMOR LESTE — Timor Leste is one of the da’wah destination countries for Dai Ambassador Dompet Dhuafa 2023. Those who served in this country were Ustaz Rizki Amrillah, M.Ed and Ustaz Mukhidur Rahman.
Previously, the release of Dai Ambassador 2023 was held at the Philanthropy Building on Monday, March 20, 2023. Then on the second day of the assignment, Ustaz Rizki shared his experience of staying in touch with the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, the capital of Timor Leste, on Saturday (25/3/2023).
“Even though it is a holiday, Dai Ambassador assigned to the Republic of Timor Leste still visits the office of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Timor Leste to strengthen cooperation activities while handing over souvenirs from Dompet Dhuafa,” wrote Ustaz Rizki.

He also told about his trip to the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, “At 09.00 am, we were picked up by the embassy driver, the night before we had made an appointment with Mr. Sunan, as a Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, upon arrival we were immediately welcomed and received in his room,” he said.
In his travel notes, Ustaz Rizki also conveyed his conversation with Wasikhu Sunani Ali Asroni as Minister Counsellor at the Indonesian Embassy in Dili.
“Our conversation began with a story of his experience serving in several countries, including Kenya, Yemen, and now in Timor Leste. Interestingly, the title of his thesis is about Timor Leste, so literacy related to Earth Lorosae is very deep. He shared stories about religious diversity in Timor Leste and the dynamic role of Islam in other religions,” explained Ustaz Rizki.

The counsellor of the Indonesian Embassy in Dili also said that da’wah must be indeed by the word of Allah, namely in Surah An-Nahl, “Da’wah must be wise, according to what Allah says in Qs. An-Nahl, especially when you are here, invite mad’u in ways that are wise, good advice,” said Sunan.
The verse in question is Surah An Nahl Verse 125:
اُدْعُ اِلٰى سَبِيْلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِيْ هِيَ اَحْسَنُۗ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيْلِهٖ وَهُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِيْنَ
Means: Invite ˹all˺ to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and kind advice, and only debate with them in the best manner. Surely your Lord ˹alone˺ knows best who has strayed from His Way and who is ˹rightly˺ guided.

Quoting the book Map of Da’wah: Dynamics of Da’wah and Its Implications for the Diversity of North Sumatran Muslim Communities by Prof. Dr. Abdullah et al, Quraish Shihab explained that there are three methods of da’wah, namely the wisdom method, good teaching, and sympathetic discussions or ethical rebuttals. The method of da’wah must also be adapted to the target of da’wah or mad’uw.
At the end of his speech, he also told the Dai Ambassador who served on Earth Lorosae that he hopes the Dai delegation assignment to Timor Leste will continue and that Dai’s presence can bring blessings to Muslims and Timor Leste. (Dompet Dhuafa/Rizki Amrillah/Awalia R)
