Students of Insan Cendekia Boarding School Help Recover Flood Survivors in Sumatra Through Dompet Dhuafa

JAKARTA —–— Three weeks since floods and landslides hit the island of Sumatra, many affected areas are reportedly still receiving minimal aid. However, amid these limitations, one thing to be grateful for is that there is still hope growing from the initiative and spirit of mutual assistance among residents regardless of age; in fact, this sense of caring has emerged in their hearts.

One such example comes from the students of Insan Cendekia Boarding School in Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency. On Tuesday (December 16, 2025), they handed over the proceeds from a fundraising campaign they initiated through an arts performance. The fundraising effort was an initiative by the students carried out via social media.

In addition, other donations came from parents, but the students also contributed from the proceeds of their activities, raising a total of around Rp1,500,000. The Art Performance is one of the biggest events at Insan Cendekia Boarding School, and in order for the funds to be more blessed and provide wider benefits, the students of Insan Cendekia agreed to donate them through Dompet Dhuafa.

“This was collected from the children through social media, and the biggest donors were the parents, but the children also donated around Rp1,500,000 from the proceeds of yesterday’s activities for this flash flood. So, they were the ones who collected the funds through social media; I only helped to pass it on. This was the children’s initiative to donate to Dompet Dhuafa,” said Meuthia, one of the teachers at Insan Cendekia Boarding School.

The donation was handed over directly by Akmal, a student at Insan Cendekia Boarding School, to Yudha Andilla, Retail Fundraising Manager at Dompet Dhuafa.

“Alhamdulillah, today we received a donation from Insan Cendekia Boarding School to be distributed to flood survivors in Sumatra. We greatly appreciate these children for their high level of empathy and concern. This is not the first time Dompet Dhuafa has collaborated with Insan Cendekia. May God bless you,” said Yudha Andilla.

This act of caring initiated by the students is expected to inspire many parties that the spirit of sharing and empathy can grow from an early age and be realized through simple steps.

Dompet Dhuafa invites the wider community to continue strengthening solidarity. Every helping hand, no matter how small, means a lot to the survivors. Caring can be woven into hope, and solidarity can be the path to restoring their lives. (Dompet Dhuafa)
