Taubat: A Space for Reflection and the Call of Conscience

JAKARTA —-— Singer Ita Purnamasari has collaborated with the legendary nasyid group Snada to release an acoustic version of the religious song Taubat. The song is presented as a spiritual reminder for listeners as they welcome the month of forgiveness, while also serving as a tribute to foster spirit and support for survivors in Sumatra. The song’s launch took place at Sasana Budaya Rumah Kita, Dompet Dhuafa, Jakarta, on Thursday (February 26, 2026).

In 2005, the song Taubat was composed by renowned Indonesian musician and music producer Dwiki Dharmawan, with lyrics written by Teddy Tardiana, one of Snada’s vocalists. Taubat had previously been performed by the nasyid group Snada in an a cappella version.

This wonderful collaboration began after Snada returned from China and took the initiative to team up with Ita Purnamasari to present the song Taubat as a collaborative track. Dompet Dhuafa welcomed this charitable initiative as a charity partner. Along with the release of the song Taubat, a fundraising campaign was launched through Dompet Dhuafa’s digital channels, with all proceeds to be channeled toward helping survivors in Sumatra.

“So, it was created in 2005, and now I miss it again. We talked about how we could dedicate this song, Taubat, to Dompet Dhuafa’s ‘Peduli Sumatera’ campaign. It turned out Dompet Dhuafa was on board, and alhamdulillah, this beautiful collaboration came to be. Thank you, and the music video is already airing on DDTV,” Dwiki told the audience.

Dwiki emphasized that the song was born as a form of self-reflection during the month of Ramadan, an invitation to pause for a moment from the hustle and bustle of daily life and use this time for deeper self-reflection.

“For me, there are times when we, as human beings, must take the time to stop running and pause. Just a little, so this ‘Taubat’ reflects, contemplates, and becomes a prayer for ourselves and for many people,” said Dwiki.

Meanwhile, Ita noted that the song Taubat serves as both a pause and a call to repent, while there is still time and the opportunity for self-improvement remains open.

“Perhaps I can add that humans are prone to error; no one is immune to sin or mistakes, so while there is still time, let us repent,” said Ita Purnamasari.

In keeping with this spirit of goodwill, the Neo Sholawat group—led by Teddy Tardiana, Erwin Yahya, Mohammad Iqbal Taqiyudin, Lukman, and Ikhsan—is calling on people from all walks of life to join hands in strengthening their compassion and support for Sumatra.

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim—together with Ita Purnamasari and our friends at Snada, we aim to present a work that is not merely heard, but felt. A sung prayer, a reminder that hope is never lost—let’s help Sumatra and disaster-stricken regions through Dompet Dhuafa; prepare your donations for our brothers and sisters in Sumatra and across the archipelago,” said Teddy on behalf of the group.

In collaboration with Pop Art and Dompet Dhuafa, this work is intended as a call to conscience, urging the public not only to focus on self-improvement but also to foster compassion and solidarity to support our brothers and sisters in Sumatra.

Etika Setiawanti, Director of Resource Mobilization at Dompet Dhuafa, also expressed appreciation for the musicians’ involvement in offering support and solidarity for Sumatra.

“We warmly welcome this collaboration as a form of aid for Sumatra. Thank you to Dwiki Dharmawan, Ita Purnamasari, and Snada for releasing the song Taubat, which tells a story of an invitation for us all to reflect on the fact that human actions have contributed to these disasters, leading to environmental damage. Thus, with this song, hopefully we can all protect the environment, care for one another, and be reminded to always be grateful and share to help those affected by disasters,” added Etika.

No matter how far you stray, there is always a way home. No matter what mistakes you realize you’ve made, there is always room to return. Listen to “Taubat” on the DDTV YouTube channel and make your generous donation through digital.dompetdhuafa.org/donasi/prayforsumatera. (Dompet Dhuafa)
