JAKARTA – Not just global, BTS (Bangtan Boys)—a South Korean boy band—is also known for the positive messages they convey through their songs. The inspiration from BTS not only impacts the lives of their fans in the entertainment realm, but also in terms of social awareness. ARMY—the name for BTS fans—in various parts of the world has proven that this fandom is not only solid in supporting their idols, but also active in social and humanitarian activities.

In Indonesia, this spirit of caring is manifested by BTS ARMY through various social actions, one of which is the “Army Ramadan Giving: Light It Up Like Ramadan”, inspired by the lyrics of the song Light It Up Like Dynamite. This program aims to spread kindness during the month of Ramadan with various sharing activities.

On Sunday (16/03/2025), BTS ARMY and Dompet Dhuafa held an action to share takjil (traditional snacks) around Sarinah, Central Jakarta. In this activity, as many as 1,000 takjil packages were distributed to people on their way to breaking their fast. Not only to pedestrians, takjil was also distributed to motorcyclists, car drivers, and workers who were still on the road when the call to Maghrib was heard.

Prior to this action, a similar activity had also been carried out by BTS ARMY Yogyakarta in the iconic area of Tugu Yogyakarta intersection on Monday (12/03/2025). In addition, it has also been held in Bandung, Surabaya, Lampung, Makassar, and will also take place in Pontianak. This activity received a warm welcome from the local community who felt helped by the distribution of free takjil, especially for those who did not have time to buy iftar food in the midst of busyness or long journeys.

This social action was inspired by the lyrics of the song Dynamite, one of BTS’ songs that carries a message to always do your best and spread happiness. The song was created with a cheerful vibe and full of positive energy, which is expected to provide encouragement, especially to its listeners, and generally to the community as a whole.

“’The song Dynamite is made of positive vibes, energy, hope, love, and purity,” said BTS in an interview quoted from www.elle.com.

The South Korean music group wants the song Dynamite to energize listeners, make them smile, and bring happiness to their daily lives. This message is in line with the spirit of sharing that BTS ARMY carries in its social actions.

Through Army Ramadan Giving, BTS ARMY wants to ensure that the positive energy they get from BTS can be channeled back to the community in the form of real care.

Micin, an ARMY who participated in this takjil sharing action, said that this activity was a concrete form of BTS ARMY’s concern for others.

“We want to prove that ARMY is not only a community that is active on social media, but also has a high level of social awareness. We want to bring this spirit of sharing into the real world,” he said.

According to him, this act of sharing is a concrete manifestation of the values that BTS always promotes, such as love, empathy, and mutual support. Through this activity, BTS ARMY wants to show that their fandom is not only about supporting idols, but also about becoming a better person and being beneficial to the environment.

The Army Ramadan Giving campaign is not the first time BTS ARMY has done this. The previous year, they also collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa to hold a similar activity, which at that time was a donation event for orphans. In the event, the children not only received assistance in the form of donations, but also felt happiness through the various activities that were organized.

On March 22, 2025, Dompet Dhuafa and BTS ARMY Indonesia will hold a Shopping with Orphans (BBY) event at Kuningan City Mall, Jakarta. A total of 100 orphans will be accompanied by Dompet Dhuafa and BTS ARMY seniors to have fun, play, and shop for their wishes.

Seeing the enthusiasm and positive impact of this activity, BTS ARMY and Dompet Dhuafa are committed to continuing to run social programs in the future. They hope that this movement can inspire other communities to participate in various acts of kindness, both during and after Ramadan and beyond.

In addition to being welcomed by the communities involved, this takjil sharing action also received appreciation from the wider community. Many beneficiaries felt helped and expressed their gratitude for the care shown by BTS ARMY and Dompet Dhuafa.

With more and more social actions like this, it is hoped that the spirit of solidarity and social care in society will be stronger and more sustainable. Dompet Dhuafa and BTS ARMY also hope that these acts of kindness can continue to grow and reach more people in the future.

As the message that BTS always carries in their songs, small actions done with sincerity can bring big changes to many people. With the same spirit, BTS ARMY proves that fandom is not only about supporting idols, but also about sharing happiness and spreading kindness to others. (Dompet Dhuafa)
