JAKARTA — Aligning with its mission, “Humanising Financial Services,” PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank Indonesia) has once again collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa to disseminate impactful benevolence. This partnership materialized through the Guru Ngaji Program of the Pusat Belajar Mengaji (PBM) Corps Dai Dompet Dhuafa (Cordofa), encompassing Assistance (Bisyaroh) & Certification for Quranic Teachers amounting to IDR 242,962,500.
On Wednesday (24/1/2023), Dandy Suprandono, the Head of Sharia CFS PT Maybank Syariah, personally delivered the aid to Etika Setiawanti, the Secretary of Yayasan Dompet Dhuafa Republika (YDDR), at the Philanthropy Building in South Jakarta. This contribution is part of a welfare fund distribution program managed by Maybank Indonesia’s Sharia Business Unit (UUS).
“This welfare fund distribution is executed to support educators in their continuous service to the nation’s future generations, aiming to have a social and economic impact on the community. As a bank, we are deeply concerned with measuring impact, beyond just business,” stated Dandy during his address.
The collaboration between UUS Maybank Indonesia and Dompet Dhuafa dates back to 1994. Since then, various cooperations have been established, including partnerships for ZISWAF payments via mobile banking (M2U), internet banking, and ATMs. Other collaborative efforts under the UUS Maybank Indonesia Welfare Fund Distribution Program include Productive Endowments for Pulomas Hospital, contributions of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the Covid-19 pandemic, Qurban programs, aid for orphans and the needy, provision of clean water, and other social initiatives.
“Alhamdulillah, we are pleased that Maybank’s relationship with Dompet Dhuafa dates back to 1994. We view Dompet Dhuafa as a trustworthy institution,” added Dandy.
Etika Setiawanti expressed gratitude for the 30-year-long collaboration, highlighting the significant role of Quranic teachers, whom Dompet Dhuafa continuously focuses on.

As a zakat and humanitarian institution, Dompet Dhuafa continually endeavors to spread the spirit of benevolence. Undoubtedly, we perpetually propagate Islamic values to all generations in every possible way,” said Etika.
The establishment of Dompet Dhuafa owes much to the role of Quranic teachers under Cordofa. Beyond religious literacy, Cordofa significantly contributes to community empowerment. Through Cordofa, the PBM serves as an integrated, area-based dakwah program focusing on nurturing genetic potential, Islamic studies, leadership, and talents.
“We aim not only at teaching and learning but also at ensuring the welfare of these Quranic teachers, which we strive to support, necessitating collaborative efforts from all partners to simplify the learning process. Thus, the Guru Ngaji program can expand throughout Indonesia, benefiting numerous Quranic teachers. Hopefully, this initiative will strongly benefit the future Quranic generation,” added Etika.

The PBM Teacher Assistance aims to empower teachers to continue serving the nation’s future generations. Alhamdulillah, as of 2023, PBM Cordofa has expanded across 15 provinces in Indonesia, comprising 52 PBMs and 226 Quranic teachers.
