ACEH — Dompet Dhuafa, together with Bank Jago, distributed 68 humanitarian aid packages to residents affected by flooding in Bireuen Regency on Friday (February 12, 2026). This aid was provided in response to flash floods that caused severe damage and even wiped out an entire hamlet.
The 68 aid packages contained various basic necessities tailored to the conditions and needs of each survivor. The aid packages distributed included food packages, school kits, hygiene kits, first aid kits, baby kits, and Muslim kits. All of this aid was distributed based on the results of field assessments conducted by volunteers, in coordination with the local government.
In Gampong Simpang Mulia, Juli District, volunteers from Dompet Dhuafa’s Disaster Management Center (DMC) distributed 13 basic food aid packages to the affected residents. Keuchik Gampong Simpang Mulia, Nazaruddin, said that one hamlet in his area was completely wiped out by the swift river currents. The hamlet consisted of 27 houses with 29 families.
“This hamlet is located on the riverbank. However, there has never been a flood as devastating as this before,” said Nazaruddin.

A similar testimony was given by Junaidi Husin (51), one of the residents whose house was washed away by the flood. He said that he had lived in the area since birth and had never seen such a powerful flood that wiped out an entire hamlet from the settlement map.
“The water came very quickly. My wife, my six children, and I didn’t have time to save any of our belongings. We only managed to save ourselves,” said Junaidi.
As the water began to rise, residents rushed to the mosque, which was considered the safest place. However, the strong current slowly washed away the building. The residents then fled to higher ground. Almost all of the survivors only managed to save the clothes on their backs, leaving all of their other possessions behind.
Until now, the affected residents still depend on emergency tents for shelter and public kitchens to meet their daily food needs. The arrival of food packages from Dompet Dhuafa and Bank Jago has become an important addition to the residents’ food supply.

Fadel Aldimas, Digital Partnership Dompet Dhuafa, explained that this assistance is a form of Bank Jago’s concern for communities affected by flooding in Sumatra.
“Through Dompet Dhuafa, Bank Jago entrusts this good deed so that it can reach the people who need it directly,” he said.
Dompet Dhuafa will continue to strive to support communities affected by disasters, both through emergency aid and recovery programs, as part of its humanitarian commitment to alleviate the burden on survivors. (Dompet Dhuafa)
