Ambulance of Dompet Dhuafa Evacuates Falling Victims in Northern Gaza

PALESTINE – A humanitarian volunteer partner of Dompet Dhuafa in Palestine described their resilience. In a short video sent to Dompet Dhuafa on Friday (08/22/2025), he said, “Last night, a tent was bombed, killing three children, their mother, and their father. The next morning, a school in Abu Iskandar Sheikh Radwan was massacred. Approximately 12 people were killed and 40 injured. Dompet Dhuafa ambulances arrived to evacuate the victims.”

The Gaza Strip, especially in the northern region, is on the verge of an extremely severe humanitarian crisis. The threat of full occupation by Zionist Israel has pushed the situation to a critical point. Amid these conditions, Dompet Dhuafa’s ambulance service remains active every day to evacuate victims, both the wounded and the dead.

Healthcare facilities in Gaza, such as Hamad Hospital, Al-Shifa, the field hospital in Al-Saraya, Baptist Hospital, and Al-Quds Hospital in Tel Al-Hawa, are nearing collapse. The accumulation of casualties and limited space make evacuations increasingly urgent and dangerous.

The volunteer then expressed his deep gratitude to the Indonesian people for the ambulance, which has saved many lives. The trust of the Indonesian people is evident and active at all times for the people of Gaza who are suffering.

“Thank you, Dompet Dhuafa, this ambulance has truly saved lives. Your trust is evident and active at all times. Greetings from the heart of Gaza, which is suffering from calamity, to the leaders and people of Indonesia who always support us,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Yeni Purnamasari, Dompet Dhuafa’s Palestinian Humanitarian Response Coordinator, emphasized the urgency of the ambulance operation. She emphasized that Dompet Dhuafa will continue to be there for the Palestinian people who are currently suffering from humanitarian violence. This ambulance is a tangible form of the Indonesian people’s presence.

“Dompet Dhuafa ambulances continue to work to save lives. Amidst the sound of bombs and the threat of death, volunteers continue to pick up victims even in the most dangerous areas. This is a manifestation of the Indonesian people’s concern to continue to be present in Gaza,” she said.

Yeni added that the threat of full occupation would only worsen the distribution of aid. She feared that this would block access to wider aid. The presence of ambulances and support from the Indonesian people are vital to keep hope alive.

The current situation shows a terrible death toll. According to data from the Gaza Health Ministry (as of June-July 2025), more than 60,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 146,000 have been injured.

Meanwhile, an independent study (Nature, June 27, 2025) estimates that the death toll reached 84,000 between October 2023 and early January 2025, with the majority of victims being vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly. (https://www.nature.com/)

These figures show that the conflict has caused widespread suffering, with a profound impact on the civilian population, including thousands of orphans, mothers who have lost their families, and severely injured residents.

Let’s continue to pray and support this humanitarian operation through https://digital.dompetdhuafa.org/donasi/jagapalestina. So that ambulances can continue to run, lives can be saved, and hope can be maintained even though Gaza is in the midst of increasingly intense violence. (Dompet Dhuafa)
