Building Meunasah Al-Hijra, Dompet Dhuafa Helps Aceh Residents Attend First Tarawih Prayer of Ramadan 1447 H

ACEH —-— Survivors of floods and landslides attended their first tarawih prayers at Meunasah Al-Hijra in Blang Awe, Meureudu District, Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh, on Wednesday (February 18, 2026) evening. This meunasah was built with donations from Dompet Dhuafa.

A touching and grateful atmosphere enveloped the hearts of the congregation. Despite the difficult circumstances following the disaster, Ramadan had finally arrived. Though faced with many limitations, their hearts remained filled with joy.

Meunasah Al-Hijra itself is not just a physical building. For the people of Blang Awe, it is a symbol of revival and hope. The floods and landslides that hit this area at the end of 2025 left deep sorrow, took away property, and damaged various public facilities, including places of worship. During the recovery period, the community was forced to find alternative places to worship, often with makeshift facilities.

Praise be to God, the spirit of cooperation and compassion from Dompet Dhuafa donors has made their dream of having a proper mosque a reality. The construction of Meunasah Al-Hijra took time and involved many parties, demonstrating a strong commitment to helping the community rise from adversity.

“The construction of this mosque is not just about erecting a building, but a symbol of the restoration of our brotherhood and spirit of mutual cooperation. On the foundation of the sincerity of the donors and the sweat of the residents, we are building this house of worship as a sacred place that will mend hearts that have been torn apart by disaster. Let us maintain this harmony, because this Meunasah belongs to all of us, from us and for us all,” said Deputy Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation, Herdiansah, at the location.

The presence of Meunasah Al-Hijra is also expected to become a center for other positive activities for the community, such as religious lectures, religious education for children, and various community meetings. This is a significant step forward in post-disaster recovery efforts, not only physically but also spiritually and socially.
