JAKARTA —-— To kick off the first week of Ramadan 1447 H, Dompet Dhuafa, in collaboration with Gramedia, launched a charitable initiative titled “Sedekah Al-Qur’an for Sumatra and the Archipelago,” aiming to distribute 30,000 copies of the Qur’an. The event was held on Thursday (2/26/2026) at the Sasana Budaya Rumah Kita Dompet Dhuafa in Jakarta.
The charity initiative was attended by Etika Setiawanti, Director of Resources & Mobilization at Dompet Dhuafa; Rezza Patria Wibowo, Public Relations Manager at Gramedia; “Influencer of Goodness” Syakir Daulay; students from the Green Lido Tahfidz Boarding School (PTGL) in Sukabumi; as well as members of the media and bloggers.
The Quran Donation campaign, with a target of 30,000 Qurans, aims to eradicate Quranic illiteracy while fostering a spirit among young people to increase the number of hafiz in Indonesia. This year’s Ramadan also serves as a catalyst to enhance acts of worship, including Quran recitation. This spirit must be immediately reignited, especially among survivors in Sumatra.

Dompet Dhuafa has long promoted the Al-Qur’an Charity Program in response to the high demand for Qur’an copies in Indonesia. Data from the Institute of Qur’anic Sciences in 2022 indicates that 72.25 percent of the Indonesian population remains Qur’anically illiterate. On the other hand, the national demand for Qur’ans reaches approximately six million copies per year, while the procurement target set by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs has only reached two million copies. This gap, coupled with access challenges in remote, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions, serves as the backdrop for Dompet Dhuafa’s continued promotion of the Qur’an Charity Program.
To address these challenges, Dompet Dhuafa has partnered with Gramedia through the Quran Charity Program for Sumatra and the Archipelago. This collaboration aims to reignite the spirit of reading the Quran among disaster survivors.
Floods and landslides that have struck several regions are known to have swept away many copies of the Quran, even causing mosques to lose Qurans suitable for use, making this program an effort toward recovery for affected communities.

“This aligns with Gramedia’s mission; we’ve launched the Quran donation initiative, and our challenge was to partner with an organization that is truly committed to this cause. For the past two years, we’ve partnered with Dompet Dhuafa, so it seems to align with our customers’ wishes. Then, as the fundraiser, we are assisted by our friends at Dompet Dhuafa in distributing the Qur’ans,” said Rezza Patria Wibowo.
To achieve the target of 30,000 Qur’ans, Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia have devised strategic steps. As the fundraising partner, Gramedia is implementing several fundraising schemes, such as offering donations directly when customers shop at Gramedia; the second scheme is through the Happy Family Coloring event, where all funds raised from that event will be fully allocated to this Qur’an Donation Program.

Happy Family Coloring is a coloring activity presented in the format of a family event, conducted entirely online and simultaneously across Indonesia. Participants download the designated images and then take part in a series of online activities, with their participation converted into support for the Al-Qur’an Charity Program.
This program, first held in 2025, received a high response, with a total of around 21,000 registrants from a single region, while the overall activity spans seven regions and is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, Dompet Dhuafa, as the distributing organization, has targeted several distribution points, including for the students of the Green Lido Sukabumi Tahfidz Islamic Boarding School, Smart Ekselensia, through the Community Service Agency (LPM) with its network of orphanages and schools, as well as to preachers from the Dompet Dhuafa Preachers Corps (Cordofa) and at Dompet Dhuafa branches.

Dompet Dhuafa, established in 1993, reaffirms its commitment to upholding public trust by managing all Ziswaf donations with integrity, transparency, accountability, and professionalism through the implementation of standardized governance and risk management practices.
“We are deeply grateful to Gramedia for serving as a strategic partner in supporting the Sedekah Al-Qur’an Program . Hopefully, the target of 30,000 Qur’ans can be achieved this Ramadan and distributed promptly. Gramedia has a strong reputation for printing quality, and we are supported by Syakir Daulay, who will help ensure this campaign reaches a wide audience. Once again, thank you to all donors and to Gramedia,” explained Etika.

Meanwhile, Dompet Dhuafa’s “Influencer of Goodness,” Syakir Daulay, expressed gratitude that there are still organizations concerned about the Indonesian people—especially survivors in Sumatra—and their need for copies of the Quran.
According to the influencer, who is adored by Generation Z, the Sumatra region is one of the areas in need of Qurans in the aftermath of the disaster. Concerns are not only focused on physical impacts, such as floods that destroy homes, but also on the long-term threat of a “disaster of ignorance” resulting from the loss of Qur’an manuscripts that were swept away and the reduced access children have to the Qur’an. This situation is seen as having the potential to influence the character development of future generations.

“This is really great. During Ramadan, when we might not have enough time to read the Quran, this initiative encourages people to read the Quran. I’m truly delighted, and I think this collaboration is something we should all appreciate—Dompet Dhuafa, which has a legendary track record in delivering aid, and Gramedia, whose printing services are undoubtedly highly trusted. So, let’s do this! I’m inviting everyone to join in if they can, even if it’s just starting with 10,000 rupiah,” he added.

The event also featured students from the Green Lido Tahfidz Islamic Boarding School in Sukabumi. Those in attendance, as direct beneficiaries, greatly appreciated this charitable initiative.
“In my opinion, this event is really great, and as a student at PTGL—who, alhamdulillah, has been receiving assistance up to now—I would like to express my gratitude to Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia for the support provided for learning the Qur’an at PTGL,” said Muhammad Al Fatihah Nurrahman.

The event concluded with a symbolic gesture of cooperation between Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia through the Al-Qur’an Charity Program for Sumatra and the Archipelago. The event also marked a comeback for music maestro and producer Dwiki Dharmawan, Ita Purnamasari, and Snada, who released a song titled Taubat as part of a collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa to help accelerate Sumatra’s recovery.
